Default 2017 C7 Z06 gets a better supercharger - you can too ;)

New for 17 is a 2" taller lid, larger IC bricks in the lower manifold, and front cross over manifold for the water. I don't have the new blower in yet, but the lid is in.

Lids MSRP $882.21, your cost $650ea

Blower manifold, ICs, and cross over $4,676.23, your cost $3500ea.

My question is how many guys in here have actually had a overheating problem?? I would say at least 90% of C7 Z06 owners will never run their cars hard enough to have a problem. Just saying!!

How will these bits lower oil temps?

IATs I can see...

Is this THE 2017 Z06 cooling fix? If so, that's a pricey upgrade for a car that should've had it worked out to begin with.

Well, here is the solid information we've been expecting. 2" taller! Wow. I'd also like to know if it'll fit under the current hood. Regardless, I think this lends more credence to the revised hood venting info.

Um, no. This is 10%, if that, of the cooling fix.

If this somehow magically fixed the cooling problem at twice the price it'd be a bargain we should be glad to have. But it's nowhere near that.

I get the sense that you're not going to like the price of the full retrofit, if and when that happens. In fact I got flamed out of a closed thread for suggesting people would be unhappy with the cooling improvements when released.... we shall see.

Yikes, that's pretty steep to lower the IATs a few degrees. With the hood and other mods we're probably looking at $10k minimum to upgrade to the 2017 model's cooling.

yeah, I agree this is probably a small piece of the puzzle. And I imagine one without the other won't fix the issue.
Don't see how they are not going to increase the 2017 price significantly? I believe the Corvette makes about 10k gross profit per car.

I agree!
Looks like it is the lid for the Camaro and they are putting it on the Z06.
Just cut the hood like Callaway does. J/k

For that money a bigger aftermarket blower would be better for 2015's and 2016 owners.

This gives no power increase. A bigger blower would.

Unless IATs are part of some runaway thermal cascade, this is probably the last of the 2017 pieces I'd buy. It's the engine cooling capacity (radiator plus airflow) that I think you've all confirmed to be the primary problem, so I'll wait and see what pieces they've modified to address that. This isn't that.

Even so I'd be hard-pressed to dump $10K into 3 year old car unless I were tracking it as much as (I'm guessing) you do. Not that we know the costs yet.

Surprised that a different blower, larger intercooler, and lid doesn't affect the J-whatever SAE horsepower rating at all...

And I bet that upgrading a 15-16 Z with the new parts would still probably void your warranty lol

The '15 and '16 Z06s are officially "obsolete".

I'm glad whoever's buying the 2017 is getting a much better car. I'd say that's success. It's not always about me me me and it sucks for you you and you.

The Corvette is a better car now. For those with early models options exists from GM to improve. Everyone is better off unless you can't enjoy your toy because there is a better toy. With that mindset your toy will always suck and you'll be forever unhappy.

Continuing improvement is a good thing. And should be encouraged.

At this point I wouldn't say 'much better'. While it is obviously improved like previously stated I doubt these particular changes are what we need to keep the overheating track crowd quiet. Maybe with these particular mods you can hot lap down the 1/4? But...... Any improvement is good, and I'd love to be wrong

To avoid spiraling downward like a previous thread, I hope we can keep this conversation related to the new parts instead of fighting over the existence of a problem, and whether or not GM should pay to upgrade previous model years.
