16s still on lots.

I think this could be the 2017 Z06. Check the new wing mounts on the trunk, and the cheek mounted intercoolers. The hood looks like it has a hole in the front, as well as on top for more air flow.

Also the ZL1 right behind might be for data comparison purposes. New hood, intercooler lid, etc.

It's all conjecture at this point, but I am one who believes there will be a ZR1 version of the C7, and fairly soon. I have read the articles and the speculation, and proceeding this way makes sense to put the icing on the C7 Corvette.

How they are going to integrate everything with the mid engine Zora is another matter all together, but there is a plan somewhere.

I believe you are right on the money with this.

Default Zr1?

Gotta ask for those that believe there will be another ZR1 produced....what will a new ZR1 have to top the Z06? What price point would it have...

Unless we are thinking the ZR1 will have chart topping performance, I don't see it coming back anytime soon.

One other feature is with a new front bumper, and possible new fenders, it looks like they might be ditching the spats. I can't quite tell if the tires are sticking out past the fender or not.

Duntov was a racer. If he was still in charge, likely he would be "pumping up" the Corvette to beat the lap records set by the Viper ACR (also front engined, but with race car level aero - I still can't believe they put that giant wing on a "street" car) so Corvette would again be the fastest production sports car made in the USA. The drag of that Viper to produce it's claimed downforce would need an awful lot more HP to overcome. So while they're improving the cooling, they might as well make it good enough for an extra 100-150 HP so they can produce similar amounts of downforce with real serious aero like the Viper ACR. That's the only Corvette (whether front or mid-engine) that would deserve the designation Zora as a tribute to the godfather of Corvette. It would more than make up for the shortcomings (everythings relative) of the Z06 so far.

Plus, if they have (some) issues cooling the current Z06, what makes them think they can cool a ZR1 on the same front engine/rear wheel platform?

I think this is the 2017 Z06 testing the new cooling hood and other aero bits. GM will want to further differentiate the Z06 from the now similar Grand Sport so I expect some further cosmetic changes as well. Probably why the Camaro ZL1 is also running laps for a side-by-side comparison of the higher intercooler.

No Jeep flares, that would be a huge improvement!

It's a Supercharged/ Tri-Turbo ZR1 with 999 HP. I have it on good authority. I read it on the Internet.

GM already said that the car is only going up $50 and the 2017 GM Fleet Order Guide does not list any new aero options. It would be surprising if GM released a 2017 car with that many changes for only $50 more than the 2016 model.

Exactly. Not going to happen. This car is outfitted with a "track package" how ever they wish to market it. It's not a 17' z

I was speaking to the musing above about the use of the designation Zora (not Z06) on a Corvette. GM can charge whatever they want for such a heavily modified or new car. Chevy may be pulling a Porsche marketing ploy in making it possible to double the price of the base car with options. As a precedent, the C4 ZR1 was almost there. Unfortunately, after an initial spurt, sales were quite slow. If there are significant improvements on the 2017 Z06 for $50, it will be a modern day miracle. So far I haven't seen any announcements about what they are. I'm not surprised Ford only made 500 new GT's, but I would hope a Zora would be even less than Porsche's GT3.

ZR1...800+HP...Better Supercharger, tuning and cooling. Same engine platform. Current Z06 motor is sooo restricted!

I agree, I could see the cooling updates as an option. That way most consumers don't have to pay for it, people who want it will pay for it, and 15's and 16's can buy it as an upgrade. Otherwise that kit will eat into the 10k or so profit they make on each car pretty heavily.
