Short version is that the C7Z is faster.

Medium version is that the C7Z is thought faster and a better car by those that have owned both, but the ZR1 cools better on the track.

Long version will follow in a 20-page epic butthurt trollfest extravaganza populated mostly by people that have never owned a C7Z.

C7Z is quicker (accelerates faster) through quarter mile.
ZR1 is faster (205 mph) due to less downforce/drag.

Have owned both.

Gee, I wonder how many of us will be going 205 MPH. Probably about as many as will be taking their Corvettes to the "ring".

VIR only. But I'd love to run the 'ring before I'm too old.

My opinion is that the LS9 is a better engine than the LT4. But the Z06 is an all around better car and slightly faster until ~140.

A8, stock, is faster from a stand still than the ZR1 but the M7 is not. I have yet to see a ZR1 lose a roll race stock to stock but there are a lot of variables there. The road course will depend on tires, they will be close on equal tires. The ZR1 does manage the heat better.

I drove both cars ,both stock, recently. I thought the C7Z was faster and WAY stronger down low, making it the more pleasurable car to drive. I was totally unimpressed with the ZR1.

I believe the ZR1 still owns the stock record with DR's over the C7 Z06 (especially manual vs manual). Downforce is an issue with the C7 Z06 especially after 3rd - most rolls this is where you see the Z06 start to lose (against Gen V Vipers and a ZR1). ON average the ZR1 traps about 2-3 MPH higher than a C7 Z06. Heat is huge issue for the C7 Z06 so track - although faster than a C6 ZR1 - it won't last as long on the track in extreme conditions.

I would let you know, but I cannot drive both at the same time. My Z06/Z07 feels faster, has AFE cold air. The ZR1 probably has the advantage over 120mph, has Corsa xpipe and cat back.

May I add, populated by people that never owned a C7Z OR A ZR1.

Agree.

The C7 Z06 A8 is one quick quarter mile car. The M7 is not faster than the ZR1 in the quarter mile.

The LS9 engine has better internals than the LT4 engine.

I was on the track with a zr1 a few months ago. Over the 20 min in the advanced group I would say the cars are about equal around the track. Once was no better than the other. I noticed I handled high speed corners a bit better maybe but the zr1 was SLIGHTLY faster in the straights. I did out brake it but I have carbotechs.
My thoughts based on my experience: If you like the look of the zr1 which I don't, you should get it and save some $$ if you plan to track. Performance is pretty damn close. I was honestly surprised that it was so close, I expected a performance advantage on the Z06 but that was not the case.

jd, your experience does not address driver abilities or overall setups. You have aftermarket brakes and not stock tires? Most would run track tires if they spend money for brakes. That said what tires did the ZR1 have too? Any other mods at all for either? How experienced was the driver? I think you get my point but it is run what you brung and thus your results.

One thing I have never heard in these discussions is the overall MPH. Go to each fast list and time slips are .1 - .2 secs difference for the A8 but the mph is greater in the ZR1's favor. Most 1/2mi and 1mi runs are dominated by the ZR1. Which is why the supposed new ZR1 coming is suppose to fix that and go over 200mph. We will see.

The fact that the C6ZR1 ever saw the light of day in the economic conditions it was born in is a miracle. And the fact that we lived to get a C7, C7Z06 and possible ZR1 and Zora is awesome.

Roll on, the zr1 will outclass the c7 z. There is a video... And its not a surprise... Even the base z makes too much downforce

The Z06 is the all around better car hands down.

Fact is it is not! It is less efficient and puts out less power with same displacement and has the supposed advantage of the larger blower.

The tq is down 46 pounds and even more under the curve.
The Zr1 is lighter but the engine has less power.
