Z06 prices imploding - used Z07 near me $30k under MSRP
So I just bought a z06 with z07 out of state - big hassle
and now another black one pops up - 30k under MSRP
it looks brand new and orig msrp was 106k new. I have sticker.
2LZ with COMP SEATS in black with RED INTERIOR.
Just amazing. 2 years ago they were selling here 20k over MSRP and now KERBECK has new ones for 23k below MSRP and 15s are 30k below orig MSRP

happens every year right before the new ones come out, especially when they are making changes to the 2017.... it's just a chevy, don't forget. "corvette" is a model not a make.

With the "improved" 17 they will just get cheaper. Got to feel bad for the poor guys who thought these cars were an investment so to speak lol and paid way over sticker. I got mine to mod so none of this makes any difference to me but for the fender polishing crowd that drives a few hundred miles a year it has to be painful.
I knew this would happen and it will just get worse.
Enjoy the car no matter what you paid.

For some reason there are a lot of 2LZ cars on sale. Not sure if the factory cranked out a batch of "unloved option sets" or what happened, but all of the steep discounts I've seen have been on 2LZ, which is odd, since it's the middle of the pack. You'd think one extreme or the other would be cheaper, or at least "more discounted".
No one who paid over sticker (I hope) did it with the illusion that the cars were going to hold value. I almost paid over just to get it sooner, and took an MSRP deal to get it done, but that was when the 15s were new. I don't regret it, and what they sell for now is almost immaterial to me, as you couldn't replace the year+ of fun I've had with it!

and i just read that the 10 speed auto and possibly a powertrain upgrade is due by end of 17... makes it tough to pull the trigger on anything this expensive without extreme discretionary income lol..
can i wait another year? this summer is almost over... figure october november latest for the actual mce?? no wonder they are this cheap right now. can probably grab a 17 with the improvements for less than 16's are right now in ONE YEAR... lol

One has to enjoy what they own and not worry excessively about depreciation. Otherwise you'll 'save' your Z06 only to never have enjoyed it to its potential and still take one on the chin when you sell it. I bought mine for $82k and in my mind I expect $0 for it when I'm done. Now I'll drive it when I want, how I want, wherever I want. And it'll be worth every penny.
This car doesn't favor the frequent car swapper when it comes to resale.

Unless money is no object, it is always smarter too buy used...especially when you can get a 2 year old car with 5k miles on it from corvette owners who never drive their cars.

The new v. used debate is as old as the hills and it is a matter of preference. If nobody bought new, then the used market would be pretty crappy then, wouldn't it?

Exactly, no big deal at all. Nobody in their right mind pays anywhere near sticker for a new car. MSRP was 106K, decent deal on that is around 96K and where it should have sold to an astute buyer. That then becomes a 20k dollar hit in 2 years on a 2015 or 20.8%. That is not bad for a 2 year old ride.

I bought mine new a early 2016 ordered just the way I wanted it, Paid sticker price like most. I did the same with my 2010 Camaro lol. Changes are always coming every year how else do you sell cars. I love my car just putting some mileage on it before I start improving the car. No not the mod word. The aftermarket will develop stronger and improved parts, systems, tuning etc. All depending on what you want to do with the car. Myself I want a strong street car that can pull a 9sec pass on the 1320 take it to Sebring for the first time. And still drive it to work

I paid sticker for mine. $109k. Oh fkn well!!!!!!!!! I'll take another hit like I do with all of my toys and keep on having fun!!!!! Obviously, I could care less or I wouldn't be buying these cars. They are just cars. They are meant to be used and abused and on to the next one. I'm prob going to take a $40k hit when it comes time for me to trade to the NSX. It's $. Nothing more, nothing less. I'll just go make more.

For anyone who buys a car and over-thinks depreciation...
I would argue that a car may be your most expensive depreciating asset but it depreciates less than your other assets. You're big curved 4K TV that you dropped $5k on be will worth nearly zero dollars in 5 years. And your MacBook Pro. And your iPhone. And your surround sound receiver. Pool pump. Air conditioner.
Good, now stop worrying about the value of your car.
