Default Pulled the trigger on 2017 Z06 w/Z07 package, now the dilemma...

Hey Guys,

I paid my deposit, and now have a 2017 Black Rose Metallic Z06, with the Z07 package, Comp seats and the Nav package on order as of 2 weeks ago. SUPER excited about the car, and hoping the cooling upgrades help, but ready to do what I have to so I can drive it hard here in California on the track and canyon, and keep it cool and out of limp mode...

Now on to the dilemma:

I have a 98 Stroked and Blown C5, Keeping it.
I have a 08 C6 with a ton of mods, Built motor, dry sumped, CCWs with Stoptech brakes, Built tranny, diff, Mcloed RXT clutch ect...
I have a 66 Mustang Fastback GT, lightly modded bolt ons, RUNS and looks GREAT! Very cool car, gets lots of looks...

Both the C6 and stang could use a paint touch up or even repaint if I sell either.

I've only got room for 3 in the Garage, unless I stack them on my lift, don't want to do that. I also don't think I need 3 Vettes, and believe the C6 would sit most of the time anyway if I kept it.

We rarely drive the Mustang, but again it's a cool car that is only going up in Value...

Lastly, and here is the Dilemma:

I do ok, but would like to generate a little more money to put towards the Z, so I'd like to sell either the Mustang or C6, or maybe both...

Comments welcome, and please be nice or constructive, since I hesitated to put this up due to the way some members post...

Thank You Very Much in Advance!!!

PS, forgot to mention I'm keeping my DD, a very slightly modded ecoboost/twin turbo F150 Tremor as well...

I'm not a Ford guy, but they're not making any more 66 GTs, so I'd keep that if you can swing it.
You said you're keeping the C5, that didn't seem up to debate.

That leaves the C6. Problem is it's hard to recoup even stock values from modified cars sometimes, so it's an expensive hobby!

Those are probably what should be called First World Problems. One thing you will notice is the car you have ordered will attract a lot of attention. Much more so than the 08 or 98 and probably more than the 66 Mustang. I have owned Corvettes since 1972 and my black on black 2015 Z07 draws one hell of a lot of attention. I have people asking me if they can take pictures of it all the time. When I am in a fast food joint picking up a meal and the guy behind the counter yells to his boss that he is going outside to take a picture of my car that is cool. This wasn't a one time event. It has happened 3 times at fast food places and once at the local NAPA store and I don't know how many times I have been asked about the car while pumping gas. My 08 JSB Z06 never got that much attention and it got its share.

I hear ya on the 66 Fastback, #s match as well. The C6 runs hard and fast, went over 180 MPH at the Mojave Mile...

Thanks Bill, I have NO argument with anything you say...

My C5 gets some looks too.

Personally, I'd sell both vettes and keep the Mustang...only because you are not going to lose money on that.

Easy for me to say though, I don't know your sentimental attachment. It would be easy for me since I never liked the C5 or standard narrow body C6.

Since you asked my opinion, one badass vette and one classic would be a nice pair.

Thanks for the input, but I bought the C5 new back in 98, and not only have a ton of $ and time invested in it, but sentimental as well. It also runs very well, and can hit the roadcourse without over heating for 25 minute sessions at 100 degrees! Not bad for 1000HP.

I'm not attached to the C6 or the Mustang for that matter, but I do agree with you, the stang will not lose money...

If it were me, I'd sell the C6 and the Stang. Keep the azz kicker C5 and the new Z.

I'm not a Ford guy, either, but I'd keep the 66 Mustang for sure. Bye Bye C6, modified or not.

I think you already know what you want/need to do by what you wrote. In my head, it's an easy choice. You Love the C5, can do without the C6, 66 will gain value. Bye Bye C6. I just got my C7.R and I assure you, neither of the other cars will probably get driven much! And just a note, personally I think the 17 is coming with cooling and more power. They are waiting way too long on releasing info and giving way to large discounts for it just to be a cooling upgrade that they claim only effected 5% of buyers. You might want to look at the Pro Charger set up though, helps keep the car cooler

I don't think the decision should be about "collectivity."
Considering your toys, it should be about LOVE (seriously).
Which one(s) would hurt the least to cut loose?

BTW, unless the Mustang is some weird and rare pony, they're a dime a dozen these days.
Unfortunately, Ford made almost 1.3m Gen1 Mustangs and many are still around.

Keep the Mustang, as others have stated the value on that car keeps going up

Thanks for all the nice responses, just went out for a little Sunday drive in the mountains...

Had to follow A friendly LOE all the way home, kinda spoiled the ride...

Got her back in the garage with no issues though. Took the C6, and yes, it's a hell of a nicely modded car, depending on Dyno, 515+ RWHP. This car is VERY track proven, but still drives GREAT on the street or canyon.

I think I'm going to touch up the paint, and have to give away almost 30K in mods...

Your question will be answered by "losing your mind and coming to your senses". In other words, which of the cars you speak of mean the most to you? If money down the road (Mustang) makes sense as a "practical" matter, then so be it. Otherwise, when awakening each morning, which three cars would you like to look at and probably use. Best

Not a Ford guy either, but I agree, you have to keep the 'Stang. Between C5 and C6 - sorry C6, it was a good run together ol' gal!...
