Default A8 Question

I'm looking at buying a leftover new 2016 A8 Z06 with an 11/19/2015 build date. As we all know, there have been torque converter and other issues with the A8 and there was a supposed date when a new torque converter was being installed in new production C7's.

Does anyone know when that date was ? Thanks in advance for any info.

Obviously you mean a build date in 2015. The fix was apparently done a month before this.

Yeah I meant 2015 and just changed it. Thanks. I'm probably missing something in that bulletin, but I can't find where it says a new torque converter was installed in all new production vehicles starting on 10/28/15.

After re-reading, I agree that apparently no new converter was installed.

Stingray, Yes....Z06, No.
I have not seen any threads in the Z06 Forum of people complaining about their A8 transmission/TC.

I have the first Z06 w/A8 built in Jan. 2015...zero issues.

That's interesting, was it just Stingrays that were having the A8 issues? It's been proven from tuners that the A8 in both cars is essentially the same trans.

I don't have a Z06 and my car is a 15 z51 with an ecs kit/headers/meth and makes 610rwhp. My car was built Dec 2014 and the A8 has been perfect. I always get scared when I see all these negative A8 threads but so far so good.

Yeah, maybe best to think about a later in the year production 2016 or just wait for a 2017. Obviously there are some great deals on the end of year 2016's, and waiting for a 2017 say around jan/feb would give any wrinkles in the 2017's a chance to surface and hopefully no continuing A8 issues. I'm not in a mad rush, as I have a nicely modded 2012 CTS-V A6 sedan to keep me happy till I make the move.

Most of the Stingray issues are with the TC, not the transmission.
The TC is built in the Z06 for the higher Torque.

Are you positive about that? Can you link me to something showing that.

The TSB on the TC specifically spells out "LT1"....not "LT4".

I have a '15 Z06 built around May (estimating) and it has been smoother than the three other A8 transmissions I've owned, one of which was a 2016.......
