Default Overheating issues complaints fact, not fiction

I have heard from guys complaining about their cars overheating on a racetrack.they blame gm for this problem.i have read that these guys stated that GM SAID that the Z06 was track capable.then some guys say GM SAID the car was track ready.well after reading about all the complaining about this great STREET car I decided to do some research on my own to find out the truth.i got out my 2016 corvette brochure.this is the OFFICIAL description of this car for sale.not guys opinions,or indoendoes.i am posting pics of the official brochure.these are my findings,NOWHERE IN THE OFFICIAL SALES BROSHURE THAT SAYS THAT THE Z06 IS TRACK CAPABLE OR TRACK READY.if anybody can find some other GM OFFICIAL STATEMENT that says the Z06 is track ready or capable please post a picture, not a opinion.i did my research, now complainers I want to see yours.my Z is the fastest and most fun stock STREET car I have ever owned and I have owned 10 of them.i am tired of having guys bash this great street car when it overheats on a racetrack.

The part that slays me is LOW's continued indignation around this issue and yet he adds to and even creates threads which exacerbate the owners who are frustrated.

1) If your Z doesn't overheat, stay out of the thread.
2) If you don't want to road race your Z, stay out of the thread.
3) If you really don't want to learn or help those experiencing overheating events on track, stay out of the thread.

There are plenty of picture threads, carbon fiber cup holder threads and custom sun visor overlay threads. It's a rich tapestry of scintillating car-crafting at its finest. But honestly fellas, some people really do drive these on a race track the way God intended. Can we just once consider that while you are crocheting a Z06 seat cover, others are exploring the limits of this incredible machine and in some cases actually finding those limits.

good reply, fact not opinion.like I stated the official ad says that you posted a like to is.

"Chevrolet today introduced the most track-capable Corvette in the brand’s history."they imply that you can race it and some people do.any car is track capable, but not track READY.it seams like some guys took gms wink and nod that you can go right to a racetack with this car,and you can,and it will be better than most cars, but it is not track ready.that is up to you.gm doublespeak.it is what it is,and hoping and wishing will not fix it.lg motorsports has a fix for guys who want to track their cars and it would be in the persons best intrest to take a real solution to a real problem of overheating on a racetrack.

Very good link. The word "track" is mentioned 17 times. I hope the original poster understands why so many people are frustrated.

I can see why some people are frustrated because they wanted to see what is not there.they ASSUMED it was track ready, but GM states track capable.

Good stuff man and we'll worded. I knew what I was getting into going with a super charged car as I saw the million problems with the ZR1 here in AZ at Bondurant school of racing and my race group. I hold nothing against GM and don't understand all the people getting all crazy and feeling they are owed something or want to even sue. Just crazy. Anyway here is what is on their website now (under the racing section they mention the word capable again).

The problem with your assertion is that GM did not provide specifics on what was needed to be fully track ready. Nowhere in the owners manual does it state the car will go to limp mode after one lap. Nowhere do they mention that the car was designed for 86 degree ambient track temperature. Nowhere do they mention extra coolers are needed. This information is also missing from the sales brochures. How the heck do you expect people to make informed purchasing decisions when they omit important details ? GM marketing was fully engaged in propagating the idea that this car was designed for the track. Don't you remember the Nurburgring backgrounds when they were displaying the car ? The Nurburgring is a racetrack don't forget. Track ready or track capable. I don't think getting tied up in semantics does anybody any good at this point.

Really? The Z06 has always been about track performance, from the '63 to the '01 to the '06. That's why the C7 Z should perform at the track. Why else would GM be improving the cooling on the '17? It's not to tow a trailer...

Couple of things in the 'bro-sure' that should be stated if there is to be truth in advertising, they can call this a disclaimer.

We at GM want you to know that we have provided you with the most track-capable car on the streets today. However, should you decide to take us up on this you should expect that the water temperature, oil temperature, transmission temperature and yes in some cases even the power steering temperature will exceed our engineered standards and you will find yourself in a $100K limp-mode crippled car. We sincerely hope you enjoy this very track-capable car.

Did we also mention the missing 100 hp after heat-soak? Again, we sincerely hope you enjoy your track-capable car......

C7 Z06 is the most track capable corvette ever built . True statement. It's a great platform that can be modified / personalized and will beat anything out there for those who want to be in the top advance group. Others might drive it at different pace and will not need any upgrades. My advice would be to get a manual Z06 if you are planning to track the car. All other cars have their own problems GT3, ACR, GTR...,, but many on this forum refuse to acknowledge it.

Yup, not sure how it pertains to going faster, longer, but it's fun forum folly. Ready vs. Capable....hmmmmmm well here is the dictionary definition:

Capable - having the ability, fitness, or quality necessary to do or achieve a specified thing.

you have a lot of good points, they did not mention that stuff because it should never happen on the street unless their is a serious problem.all that stuff is advertising fluff to sell cars.that is what they are in business for to sell street cars that you can take on a track if made ready for.it is very simple if you understand it and accept it.

Default Me I like the TECH Solution!

Even though we don't know how it is going to be orchestrated, race gas in lieu of extra radiators works for me. That reliable clean burn!
The SC!?
