500 Mile oil change
What oil do they put in at the 500 mile change. Dexos or Mobil 1. I'm guessing they charge for Mobil 1 and GM pays for the Dexos.
Bought a car from NH and driving it home.

They are SUPPOSED to put it in...I'm suspect that some stealerships use something cheap(er) and pocket the difference. I have more trust in TV evangelists and Capt Hook doing prostate exams. I do my own changes.

Walmart has the oil for $22/5qts. So cheap I do it myself. They can keep their freebee oil.

Criswell uses mobil1, no charge. MobIl 1 is dexos. Dexos is not a brand, it is a (certification marked) spec and oil companies must pay GM if they want to call their oil dexos compliant.

Driving a new one from the dealership in NH to OKC. Will need to get the oil change somewhere east of Cleveland. Any recommendations.

Have your selling dealer set that up for you. I will be driving from Bowling Green, KY to Fort Worth, TX and will need to have it changed before I get home. I will have my dealer contact another dealer that is on the way and set up an appointment. I have heard lots of people have done this.

I did it in Memphis, I believe. Make damn sure they have the jacking pucks and know how to use 'em. Tell them to put in 9 qts of Mobil 1, PF64 filter and give you the extra quart. Bring the oil level up to the "Hot" mark when you get it back.

So you get a total of 10 quarts for each oil change?

The 2014/15 dry sump engines got 5 free oil changes in the first 2 years of ownership - the 500 mile, and 4 others.
The 2016/17 get 3 free oil changes in 2 years - the 500 mile and 2 others.
Dexos is simply a standard that a Dexos approved oil complies with.
Mobil 1 is Dexos certified. The dealership has other batch oils that are not Mobil 1, that they get cheaper and may be Dexos certified, but they aren't as good as Mobil 1.
Below is a link to a post with a GM bulletin about the 2014/15 oil changes. It's well established that it applies just as well to the 2016/17 (I had the free 500 mile Mobil 1 change on my 2016).

In there you can see that Mobil 1 is required!!! Not just any old Dexos compliant oil.
Also, you can see that if your dealership can't read a GM bulletin and demands that you pay the extra for Mobil 1, just contact Customer Care at the email or phone# on the bulletin:
I do my own oil changes, but don't see any reason to pass up FREE oil changes!!
As has been mentioned, just make sure your dealership doesn't just pass the car off to the "oil change guy" who normally only sees Malibus, Tahoes, etc., and may never have changed oil in a Vette - or at least a dry sump Vette. They have been known to bust splitters driving onto lifts, and bust rocker panels without using pucks.
Demand to watch the car being put onto the lift, demand to see that they drain through both drain plugs and filter, demand that they use Mobil 1 and the correct filter, and that oil is properly poured into the dry sump tank.
Bottom line - a new 2017 will get 3 free oil changes (500 mile, and 2 others in 2 years), and they should be done with Mobil 1, not just any old Dexos oil.

Please remind all personnel that only Mobil 1 should be used. In addition, please refer to GlobalConnect message # G_0000205212 for details on dry sump equipped (Z51, Z52, and Z06) Corvettes.
In the event a customer paid an upcharge for Mobil 1 under the Chevrolet Complete Care Program, customers should be directed to contact Executive CAC at (855) 435-7284 or email helpacustomer@gm.com for reimbursement.

That trust issue might include the manufacturer(GM). if you have a problem with the Lt4 and you didn't get the TV evangelist 3 finger/captain hook prostate exam performed by the dealership GM might not warranty the problem, -- claiming you didn't do your own prostate exam correctly..

Dexos is not a brand of oil. Dexos is the required specification for the oil you choose to meet the warranty requirements of GM. Go look at the oil from Castrol, Motul, Amsoil, etc. They all that that they are Dexos Certified.

I have read stories of dealers over filling by not draining all the oil out so I would check the (Mobil 1) level before leaving the lot.
I change my own oil but the first change at 500 I went to the dealer so I would be on GM's records for that first and most important oil change.

Blackstone oil analysis shows accelerated wear in the early stages of break-in. The oil filter can only do so much and I've seen the results of of this shearing process as it relates to being redeposited on engine parts during tear downs.
My job as an engineer involved break-in procedure and analysis, including torture testing and deliberate catastrophic engine failure, tear down etc.
My break-in will be much different than most, based on nearly 20 years of verified study. lol

Oil change
As others have said you want to make sure the guy changing your oil is totally familiar with the dry sump tank. Two very important points. There are 2 oil drain plugs to remove. One for oil pan beneath car/one for draining supply tube from oil pan under car up to dry sump tank. Also, when refilling the oil temp must be at 175 or more, then shut off wait 5-10 mins & check oil. Anywhere between hatch marks is good. Over , very bad!!.Some service folks just dump the 9.8 qts in, button it up & send you on your way. Last 2 times on my '14 Stingray (just got '16 Z06) they over-serviced the oil. I used simple trick of using small diameter clear tubing, fished it down about 2-3 ', & siphoned out the excess. By using clear tube you see it coming & stop sucking when it gets close to your mouth You have to make sure your end of tube is below where it's pulling oil from or it won't drain.
