With respect to paint quality I bought my new Z06 in June and had a professional detailer do a great deal of paint correction on the entire car. If you get the right guy there is a tremendous difference in the look of the car. For me it's like a different car. But it wasn't cheap. It took the guy 16 hours.

Buy a different car. PDR is only good for the track...if your looking at an automatic, forget the track. If you only drive in the street, forget track MRC setting, or say hello to bent rims. 16hrs of paint correction that could have gone either way depending on who did it.and cost big coin... Do you really want to buy a brand new car that has more in comon with a project resto car?

.just realized Im the OP of this thread!!!
Well my brothers.. What ended up happening is this.
The M7 ended up selling out from under me and I found another A8 that had PDR for $2,800 dollars less than both cars mentioned.
Got the A8...sorry guys. Its a trade off. I thought the 2017 would offer a solution to the overheating but Tadge the politician threw a smoke grenade to sell remaining 2016s.
Now im learning that bent rims are a regular occurance...I think I bought my car with one. When I test drove it, it was smooth.. Had to wait a few days to pick it up...by that time it had 25 more miles on it...noticed the vibration on my 250 mile trip home.
At this moment I can only confirm there is a vibration/jumpy characteristic which is more noticable in track and sport mode. I will take it to my local dealer this week and hope they dont blame me for it if it is a bent rim. I have text convo with the sales rep the day I drove it home from the dealer to back me up. Just been a few weeks now. We'll see.
I hope this car doesnt end up being more stress tham enjoyment. I didnt buy it to replace week parts or design flaws...

Thanks guys. My car now is a camaro 1le and is stick. I drive it to work everday and only once or twice in 2yrs have I even wondered about an auto. But Maybe thats why the auto seems more special, since it immitates the exotics and is damn fast...but im afraid it will get boring...even with the paddles.
Dont want to turn it into an M7 vs A8 but wanted to ask in case you insiders that own 1 or have owned 2 z06s can chime in on your ownership and maybe trade in experience.
Cause when you purchase, you have to think about the "what if" I have to fire sale this baby cause I lost income.

Then some 2000-3000 grit and get busy. Sand wipe clean repeat you can see
the defects going away sand as least as possible. If you get color on your sandpaper you were in one spot too long and may need a repaint.: Then buff with the rubbing compound while adding in the polish making a mix with going with more polish and less rubbing as you go
Your right that is how to get a show quality finish.
But it takes time you can spent 8 hrs a side easy.

To a good M7 driver. A poor driver will lose to the Auto gotta know how to roll race
The M7 is faster because the manual is more efficient and puts more power the to ground. But not from the dig! It doesn't have the gearing needed.

I am on my 6th Vette and 2nd Z. 2 of them were Auto. The last Auto had the paddles. This new Z is ferocious with the M7! I personally could not see MYSELF driving a Z in an Auto. However, if YOU are going to use it as a daily driver then I could see getting an A8 with the paddles. IMHO the paddles are fun as sh*t. I could just imagine them in a Z ! At the end of the day, either choice will be great! Good luck.

Freaked LS3 just put his Auto up for sale with remorse I had plenty of remorse with Auto purchase years ago. You may miss the stick. The Auto has a faster 60ft which is the whole race on a 1/4. Poor 60ft bad time. Doesn't really mean slow. The M7 is handicapped compared to the Auto as far as the 60ft. But side by side highway rolls are another story. The M7 in the proper gear at the start of the power band is tops the Auto will down shift and shift back and lose the race IMO
