Anyone eyeballing a Grand Sport?

Hi thanks Funz06-
Can you speak to his quandary?
He is debating a 14 or maybe a new C7 Vert (stingray) or this great 427 with only 700 miles on it and fully equipped mint white with silver stripe package.
Between the two having owned a 427 what would you choose.
It's tough I am leaning for the 427 as the body style holds up very very well still and is really a sharp bad to the bone car.
Thinking the C7 is cool (I had a Z51 ordered new in 13) But that 427 seems cooler to me am I thinking right ?
My pal has had almost every old Vette you can a name and sometimes several at once so it's more of a car decision than a money one.
Appreciation CS depreciation though for anyone

I can't believe this. If it is truly power related, I get you. I am not able to floor the car in any lower gear for more than a couple of seconds without hanging off the back bumper or things getting too blurry too fast for me to keep up with trying to see if any cops are parked on the side of the highway lol.

The 1st picture I saw of a C7 had me hooked---rear end and all. I just loved the look. And then when I saw my 1st one------I knew it was just a matter of time before I got one. Performance wise, the 427 and the base C7 are about equal---yes, there are some tenth's of a second variance, but 99.9% of the people can't drive the cars to such extremes to achieve the published numbers anyway (0 to 60; quarter mile; etc.). At this point in time, the 2014 wouldn't interest me-----probably not going to get a great deal on it as most of the 2014 buyers paid sticker or higher because the cars were in such demand, versus now it sounds like great deals can be had on the 2016's.
And, isn't your friend in a great situation if this is his most difficult and trying decision he has to make..............good for him. If money is no object for him---he should get the 427 and a 2016 Z06. And if he can find an orange 427...................I believe only a few were made.......that would be my 1st choice.

Just so you all know about wrapping a car...The wrap only lasts about 3 years before it dries out, cracks and looks like shiiit...Less time if you park in the sun at all during the day...So your 3 to 5K is total loss of money.

option 2. Keep the Z and add the G.S. in vert form.

Are you paying MSRP on the Grandsport?

An entire vehicle wrap is 3-5k??? Damn!!! I've had no clue how much a wrap cost... the cost vs. return seems like a complewaste.

I couldn't give up the extra torque the Z06 has in the low end. It would be a little easier decision if decciding betweeen the two cars if you didn't already have a Z06. I'd keep the Z06 and wait until the dust settles on the mid-engined C8, ofherwise it's just a loas of money for little difference.

This is old information carried over from the C6 Grand Sport.
The C7 Grand Sport is every bit an Apex Predator as the Z06, read this: 2017 Grand Sport
So lets not call the GS a Pretender/Fake/Wannabe Z06, its not.
The GS is an NA Z06
It has all the suspension bits, brakes, tires, chassis, everything.
And for some of us, lighter and no supercharger quirks.
(I live in CA where we only get 91 octane and superchargers choke)

spend the 1500-2k for a proper PAINT CORRECTION and have it ceramic pro coated. problem solved.
Nothing gets through that stuff. it's expensive but well worth it. watch some videos and read reviews.
Black is the NICEST color their is. it's elegant and classy. or can be sinister if murdered out.
Keep your Z06 and have the paint FIXED and SEALED.. you'll be happy much more happy than you are now and still have plenty of money (and HP) to spare!!

I almost got the GS, but I just could not stand the fender vents and after GM and the dealers started dropping the price and I could get a Z06 for the cost of a GS I said, why the hell would I get a GS for the same price?
I few thoughts....
I'm not sure who told you they would give you 75K or what level car you have with the extras, but people can get a new Z06 for that kind of money. I think you will loose more than 8k, but hey, it's your money.
The GS will for sure cost less for insurance.
You will miss the power once it's gone. You think you can live without the extra 200, but if you ever used it at all, I'm sure you will miss it.
Good luck with your decision.

If you were in Washington, we have 92 in most places, not 91 (not that it's a huge difference).

I don't get it.
"I dont need all this HP" "How fast do I need to go?"- I've driven a Stingray and own a 16Z. If you roll on or floor both in ANY gear at ANY rpm, there is a marked difference and the Z pulls harder. It is not just about top speed.
"I saw the admiral blue and fell for it" - I love the AB as well, but I bought black for a reason. You probably did as well. Upkeep can be reduced as others have posted. That said, if you bought the wrong color and your heart is telling you otherwise, no one can argue with that.
"I think the GS for me will be a nice balance. Z looks with less mechanical complications." - You track a few times a year and don't push the car. It is unlikely that a 17GS will have any more/less problems than your 16Z.
"Glad I had the Z but it will never be worth more money than it is today." It is very unlikely that this 17GS will ever be worth more than your 16Z.
There are no notable added interior/cosmetic features on the 17 GS / Stingray.
Almost anytime you trade in a (newer) car you are losing out. Unless there is a major change in interest rates the dealer / person processing the transaction is making out.
The GS is an amazing car. I just don't see any rational reason for you to trade in your Z. Godspeed with your decision.

I dont understand all this hate for the new GS. Its every bit an awesome car as the Z06 in handling and braking. So it doesnt have the same power, BFD. Its the furthest thing from a poser car. Its a legit track monster. Its mostly the insecure guys that talk down to "lesser" models. These are the cruisers that add extra badges so people can see which model they're driving. LOL. I would absolutely be thrilled with a new GS.

My 2010 Base and 2013 GS were black...........I got rid of them. It doesn't matter what you put on them or how much you attempt to clean them. They always look dirty.......not to mention how the back just sucks the dirt in like a magnet because of the backdraft.
I have a 2016 TR C7Z now. All I do is drool over it. No need to wipe down all the time.
Post up your new car selection when you get it OP.
