Default [VIDEO] C7Z vs Viper ACR vs 911 Supercup

Racingswh was kind enough to invite me to come out to Summit Point for a play date with his new Viper ACR-E. This afternoon we finally got lined up together and another friend with his 911 Supercup car played interloper as well.

I'll let you all form your own impressions from the video but I was pedaling as fast as I could to keep up to with Viper. The Viper was on Hoosiers and the Porsche and I were both on Pirelli scrubs.

Prior to this session we had been comparing lap times and we both were posting bests in the high 1:17's so I think overall the cars are pretty evenly matched. This session really didn't get within a half second of those time though.

If you stay until the end you'll see that things got kind of exciting when an LS7 expired on the way in to turn 3.

Enjoy!

Sean, great vid. I've always been impressed with the smoothness of your inputs.

Tough day for the silver C6Z. Anybody you know?

Something did fly up. When it went by it looked like a decal like maybe a car number. I'm not sure if it came off the Viper or the Viper just sucked it up off the ground. The downforce on that thing is crazy, the way it sucked the leaves off the track and threw them up in the air was pretty crazy.

Great stuff Sean!

The first lap when you were following the ACR the PDR showed the lap at 1:16:42; much faster than the high 1:17's you thought you were doing?

The Cup car was holding you up some, and if it wasn't for the traffic, I bet you would have passed him.

You have to love it when two street cars = track car! lol

Thanks for sharing. I really enjoyed this.
Nice smooth shifting and great driving. I agree looks like the 3 cars are about evenly matched.

Fun times for sure, enjoyed the vid and feeling like I was along for the ride. Sucks for the c6z, didn't look like any paint was exchanged or anyone slid into barriers though atleast?

That as a fun ride along. Thanks for sharing. I'll say right up front that I'm not a road racer but I'm sure there is a reason for what you are doing so I'm asking maybe a dumb question and I hope the answer is not "to prevent overheating". I don't understand why you weren't going to second gear instead of always third at around 50 or 60 mph exiting those curves. It looks like both of them (especially the Porsche) were putting a lot of distance on you while your car was waiting to come into the powerband.

Wow, that was a blast to watch- helluva job!

Nithros,
I could be totally off base here, but a couple times it sounded to me like the nannies may have been cutting power as he rolled into the throttle until he could get the car pointed straight coming off the corners. If so, second gear would be even worse. Also, there's so much power there at lower RPMs that the time it takes to downshift and upshift may actually lose time.

Poor-sha, forgive me if I'm wrong about that. I'm not sure how much control, if any, PTM has when in Race mode. If I'm wrong I would think your right foot was making the same adjustment the computer would have made. Whatever the case, it was great fun to watch.

How did the hoosiers hold up on the viper compared to the kuhmo's? did you have a chance to speak with the driver?

Looks like the C6Z dumped fluid toward the apex of the turn and had spun around.

Nice video Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed it. You hung with the ACR very well. They are a real track animal. You clearly demonstrated the Z is no slouch on the track either

Nice driving against those big guns! Your braking seemed superior to the Porsche and at times to the ACR. You are smooth......

Thanks for the video it was exciting to watch during my morning coffee. Better than the caffeine shot!

PDR anomaly unfortunately.

Luckily nobody traded paint. All I know about the C6Z is that I heard the motor expired and it was a stock motor car. Clearly he dumped coolant everywhere.

That's not a dumb question at all. As someone already said, I've tried running 2nd gear in turn 5 (the tight left hander) but you can't put any more power down and then you have to manage a quick upshift to 3rd either before the right or in the carousel. Staying in 3rd I can manage the power and even briefly get to WOT before I brake again to turn right.

I'm sure Racingswh will chime in at some point (we're back at the track today) but I asked him about this earlier today and he said the Hoosiers are wearing much better than the OEM tires. He said he gets about 18 heat cycles out of the front and 31 out of the rears. The fronts seem to wear the inside edge of the inside tire because they are being dragged through the corner.
