Default Lowering your Z on stock bolts question

if you lower the Z on stock bolts as low as it can go do you need a all wheel alignment?

It is highly recommended. I had mine lowered and did a "mild-agressive" track setup. Either way, I'd get the alignment setup for the reduced ride height.

Yup, but wait a few hundred miles for it all to settle in.

Some have, and some haven't without any issues. I would certainly monitor the tracking and tire wear. If pulling to one side or the other, then get it aligned, however, this isn't exclusive in determining misalignment.

What is the maximum height you can lower the car with stock bolts?
How will this affect the geometry of the suspension and handling?
What are the negative side effects?

Don't the stock shocks say good bye much quickly with lowering the car this way? I'd hate to see what GM charges for these magnetic ride shocks.

Mine is lowered all the way in the front and rear. + 6500 miles later no noticeable uneven tread wear. Shocks are fine!

How are you guys releasing the spring stress on the rear to adjust it? I put my jack under it and it will not release the load. The spring is so stiff it just raises the car.

Ditto ............ No wear issues. I simply do the recommended side to side tire rotation every 5k.

I had my servicing indie, 21st Century Muscle Cars do mine at the first oil change. It was already up on the 4 post lift so it was a no brainer.

Thanks for the link Bob. Let's hope the Z spring releases the stress with that method. The old pin jack method wouldn't work on my Z.

1: Buy car;
2: Lower on stock bolts;
3: get a really good alignment.

(Because the alignment from the factory could be crap, and by lowering the car I doubt you'll make it 'smell' any better).

I would just spend the $100 (that was my charge) and get it done to be safe.

Did you bring your car to a dealership or independent performance shop? If independent shop, how would they know settings for a "mild track" set up or "street use" setup? Not being a wise guy, I'd like to know because I want to get my viper lowered but scared that the shop I bring it to will screw it up. I don't know who to trust...I live in a smaller town.

I'm still dying for a "nose lift" system like Porsche offers. I really want to lower mine but NYC streets are a joke and now there putting these speed bumps everywhere. I don't know how well the lip will hang on with those speed bumps.
