Is Costco ok for mounting wheel and tires on Corvettes?
I'm thinking of getting the wheel and TPMS from House of Wheels and tire from tire rack, then bring them to Costco. What kind of mounting machine is required? I've heard stories of damage done to the wheel if the shop doesn't have the correct equipment.
Thanks,
Thanks,

If Costco is selling run flat tires they will have the proper equipment. Joe Blow's shop down the road might sell run flat tires but might be more likely to use non run flat tire changing equipment due to cost.

Hunter Road Force is the way to go for balancing. Hunter is also the way to go for mounting.

Costco only mounts tires that they have sold to you. However their out the door price is probably close to Tire Rack's. They will have to order in the tires, but it should only take 3-5 business days, perhaps a week.

The key is the shop's experience. And that varies all over the map. The first Michelin ZP they do will likely take them hours if not days. Once they have done 20 they will have it figured out.
Changed sensors in a non RF on 19/20s today in 20 minutes. The tech said his first RF took him 6 hours. Now he can do it much faster. Not in 5 minutes as the non FR didn't need to be dismounted to change the sensors, just opened up a bit. But he said he now knows how to do the RF ZPs without fighting with them.
Oh, and the type of mounting machine has absolutely nothing to do with the difficulty. The difficulty is seating the bead on a RF and that is an experience thing.

The post is totally correct as it pertains to balancing and the ease of changing tires and protecting the rim. However even the Hunter Revolution does not help with seating the bead on a ZP. That is totally up to the operator and his/her experience. And that is the problem with our OEM tires. It is not the simple act of putting the tire on or off or balancing it.

That's interesting (mounting tires that you bring in yourself) - that's not what I was told here. As for availability, I have found that they can get tires that are not on the web site. I talked to the Costco tire department guys locally and they say they can get C7 Z06 MPSS tires. I did not ask about Cup 2 tires.

Here is my "Costco" story.. I bought the cup2 tires from Costco because they were cheaper than Tire Rack and they were delivered as promised within about a week.. The installation was another issue... After 5 hours they had managed to break down 1 tire and could NOT get the new tire to bead up... They finally "gave up" and I took the wheels and tires to Tucker tires and they did the 4 in about 45 minutes..They did no harm to either the tire or wheel. They simply could not do it...

I will say I had the standard tires on my Z06. I didn't have the tires that come with the Z07 package so maybe that is a problem. Again I was very impressed with Costco. They even let me come back into the garage to watch them do everything.. I was told Sam's Club was decent also..

installers for these Z06 tires come in two varieties: ones that say they can do them and can't and ones that say they can do them and can but only after a great time and effort.
Good luck!

I'll say it again that I was very impressed with Costco and the way they handled the whole process. Sure it took the 2 guys a little longer than doing a regular tire but honestly I think that was just because they were being so careful.

The main issue is to find a store that is comfortable mounting RFT tyres, regardless of the name of the store.
When I first picked up my Z07 version I purchased a second set of OEM wheels, TPMS sensors and MPSSs. My selling dealership took everything down to a local store that specialises in truck tyres, and they had them on the car in 1/2 day.
I now use my servicing dealer who charges $100 per wheel for mounting and road force balancing. Worth it to me TBH.
