Default Tuning? Is it worth the risk of a lost warranty?

The only thing I can say is tuning is not something I would do to our C7 Z06, but many of our performance shops would beg to differ.

This dyno is from Cajun Comeau of BERLSX.com

I will post exactly what was sent to us this morning: One caveat is that Katech dynoed Cajun's ported throttle body on the C6 Z06 and picked up around 10 RWHP from what I can remember a few years back. He knows his stuff.

Jim,

I thought you might be interested to see the dyno results of our 2016 Z06 M7 shop car with the RZ intake.

Mods include

Halltech RZ
BER ported TB
BER dyno tune

These are SAE corrected numbers and were replicated on two different dyno jets, on separate days, with different weather conditions. 93 OCT pump gas for both runs. Car actually spun on the rollers when we hit it. Had to strap it down hard as hell and use VHT to stick it

I would like to see a baseline, add Stinger RZ then dyno, tune, then dyno again.......just to verify the process. I'm still not convinced your product is worth putting on my car without tuning; and that voids the warranty.

So that is tuned on 93 octane....What's the point of this thread / thread title?

Keep a copy of the stock flash. If you suffer a failure completely unrelated to your modifications, restore the stock flash and take it in that way. No need to lie, let them ask.

If you suffer a failure related to your mod, then that'll be out of warranty anyway, tune or not.

That's what I would do if and only if you think a tune is required to safely or properly operate your car with those modifications.

Been there, done that Dave..........I would simply like to see verifiable results of this mod procedure. Simply adding the CAI itself should not void a warranty. However, anything related to an engine issue GM can deny a claim for it. It's not oem!

My Stage-1 kit is still sitting in the box and for sale here on this site. I regret buying it (bad experience with halltech) and Jim would not offer me a full refund for his product after I asked to return it. Perhaps it's not all it's hyped up to be? Anyone?

Here is one done by Smokey's dyno back in 15: No tuning, just the intake:

It does do something but there is a lot of hype, for sure.

In the past year we have posted many many dynos, that we have received from performance shops.

I could spend the next day looking them up and reposting, but what would be the point?

The point of this post was to convey what I received from one of our dealers. If it is unimportant to you or others, just disregard it and go on to the next thread.

cool story....a different dyno in a different location in different weather with a different car seems like a good test.

Page down, and you will see 10 or so dynos, all with no tuning. Don't believe what I am posting, call the dealer who did the dyno and verify it.

unfortunately, that's not how a forum works. if you make a thread or post, be prepared for people to agree or disagree with you. This is the United States of America.

BTW, I have one of your intakes on my car....I am a customer. Do you want my review, too? I haven't posted it.

My A$$ dyno agrees with Jim. Deff power gained and no adverse effects in 6k miles. Also my dealer liked how much it look like stock he (owner) called me to ask for the company name to order one for his car. Been there many times and they love the fact that I track the car as it should be so, no concerns of warranty for me. Tell you what thou, I wouldn't dare risk my warranty with a tune because when I blew my trans on track, warrantied a new trans!! Intake, exhaust you can normally get away with. Tune isn't so easy..

Actually same car, two different dyno jet dynos, different weather conditoins, and same SAE corrected numbers plus or minus 3hp/tq

We did not do a baseline but would imagine just as most M7 cars the car was 565-575whp to start. I believe that the Halltech intake added 30-40whp/tq, but that is just one mans opinion
