New '16 Z06 A8 1/4 mile results...
Took my new car to the track for the first time. It's a 2016 Z06 1LZ A8, with 660 miles on the odometer. It has hoosier 18" DR's, but other than that it's COMPLETELY STOCK.
1st pass: poor burnout, accidentally bumped paddle shifter and that put the car into manual mode without me knowing, car revved high without shifting, then pulled the power and I glided through.. Rookie!! DOH!!
2nd pass: Did burnout in auto, not a great burnout.. staged, power braked it to about 1500rpm... launched hard and straight.. (cut a .0459 RT) The car was so damn fast it scared the **** outta me.. When I passed the Digital Readout I thought the 1/4 mile was over and i pulled off the throttle and began decelerating. Turns out I let off at the 1/8 mile mark (another dumb *** rookie mistake). The track is poorly lit and the speed of the car really had me distracted. Anyhow, it pulled a 1.668 60', and 7.02 1/8th mile, and 11.24 ET @ 94MPH (1/4 mile). Took me a while to figure out what the hell had happened and why was my trap only 94mph..LOL.
3rd Pass: 10.95 @ 126.87, with only a 1.70 60ft, and 7.098 1/8th. I was the first car after a track cleanup and the rear tires broke loose a few times and corrected during the first 120ft.
4th pass: Hooked great and went strait, ran a 10.96 @ 125.45, with a 1.71 60ft, and a 7.118 1/8th.
(car cooled down for an hour)
5th pass: I didn't get a very good burnout and the car broke loose on the launch pretty badly... Ran a 11.11 @ 127.55mph, with a 1.90 60ft, and a 7.326 1/8mi.
6th and last pass: (ran immediately after 5th pass)
Did a good burnout and the car tires dead hooked and launched hard and drove straight. On this last run I did NOT do a brake stand, but launched it from idle, which caused a very slow RT.. but created the best time of the night.
10.74 @ 129.31mph... 1.652 60ft, and 6.969 1/8th mile..
I was very pleased with these results..

Very nice! Congrats. My best runs are always flashing the converter (leaving from idle). What psi were you running in the DR's? My car tends to like 20-21 when I flash the converter. Been able to put up consistent 1.57-1.59 60's at 5 different tracks. I'm not saying that to brag but to show you that your car has more in it! Plus, it's easier on the driveline.

Another pointer, if you're worried about your reaction time. Leave just as the second amber goes dark. Launching from idle does have a slight delay. Don't wait for the 3rd amber.

Pressure in DR's... another funny story where I screwed up..
I drove the DR's to the track with 35psi, and planned on dropping them to 20 after getting there.. I forgot to drop them until after my first couple of runs... My 60' actually slowed down after I dropped the pressure, as well as my 1/8 mile..
(probably due to heat soak instead of the tire pressure)
Anyhow, I left them at 20psi and ended up running the last runs (including the fastest run) at 20psi.
As far as the 60 foot times.. two points to consider..
Most of the other drivers were complaining about poor track prep and their cars weren't running as fast as they normally do..
BUT, I felt like on my best runs, my car hooked well and tracked straight.. so, I really don't know if the car will speed up at another track (with better prep) or not.. time will tell.
Also, thanks for your tip about when to leave on the tree, I have always left when I saw the last yellow flash, and normally cut decent RT's.
RT's from yesterday were the following (with power braking and stalling to 1500-2K rpm before launch) .180, .075, .045, .235(not too good), (.074)RL, then the last run .333 while leaving from idle.

Melting Slicks
I've found that magazine times for performance cars are pretty useless. I think that there accurate for what the general populous will be able to do, but nothing beats practice on a well prepped track.
Case in point, my 2012 CTS-V was reported to run 12.3/12.4 @ 115/116mph in most magazines. Mine ran 11.52@121mph with CAI and drag radials. Not sure what the fastest "stock" Z06 on drag radials is, but I'm going to guess a 10.3x @ 130mph with great track prep and a ton of negative DA.

TX Motorplex, Ennis was so damn crowded the other night only got the one run mentioned in. The wait for it was astronomical. Ugh!
