Default Finally ran it at the drag strip....

I finally got my car to the drag strip last night for the first time. I had 3/8s of a tank of gas and the car weighed 3740lbs with me in it. I got 3 passes in. Completely stock, on Pilot SuperSport tires.

Pass 1
Hot off the street, 20-30 min cool down. +1100' DA, Launch @ 800 rpms, TC off, Sport mode, 31 psi

60'- 1.68
330'- 4.65
1/8- 7.08@101.82
1/4- 10.95@125.48

Pass 2
1hr cool down, +407' DA, Launch @ idle, TC off, Sport mode, 31 psi
60'- 1.66
330'- 4.59
1/8- 6.99@102.63
1/4- 10.84@126.73

Pass 3
1 hr cool down, +432' DA, Launch @ idle, TC off, Track mode, 27 psi
60'- 1.67
330'- 4.61
1/8- 7.02@102.90
1/4- 10.84@127.01

I didn't really get to experiment much, track was too crowded, too many oil downs etc. The AIR started going the other way as humidity set in so, I called it a night. I think in some - DA air it will go some .70s. I was hoping for a bit more MPH but...I guess it is what it is.

I have a few pics as well but my photobucket is not playing well with me, as soon as I get that figured out, I'll post them.

For stock tires, those times look very good.

Very nice, no tire spin at all. Track prep must have been good as well.

Alan, what took you so long to get out there? Well done- your experience is showing. Very clean off the line. It's good to see you enjoying the new toy.

I thought the times looked great! I have seen others post that Touring is the best mode to run in as it's the softest suspension set up. Good Luck

Congrats OP. Those are great times, much less your first outing. Warning=this kind of activity is addictive.

A8, The last pass in Track mode felt the fastest, it definitely shifted the best, I just didn't leave quite as good, Not sure why....Maybe I cooled it off a bit too much...(although I could still grill burgers on the blower lid right before the pass)

Thanks Les, its fun to have a stock car to go beat on and not worry about. Its definitely different then what I'm used to coming from my 9.20 C5Z but....at least I'm not working on this one all the time.. And its great on gas... I got 19 mpg on this tank I was drag racing on...LOL

Yes Touring has the softest suspension, it also has the softest trans shifting and the softest throttle response. On the flip side, I tried Track mode on the last pass and it shifted much harder with less delay (felt like it anyway), but it didn't run any faster. Next time out, I'm going to experiment more with the converter.

Yeah, mph wise its about the same as the 71, although out of the hole the 71' would run off and leave the Z. The 71' definitely feels faster, but my butt dyno is warped from my old C5Z that would annihilate either of these.

I'm still working on the pics..my photobucket account is giving me fits..

The prep was decent but nothing special... Honestly this car hits so soft out of the hole with the delayed throttle response/power delivery it literally just walks out of the hole for the first car length, then it wakes up and moves out. I think that's how all of these cars are hooking on stock tires. If it actually hit full power the second you nailed the throttle, I bet it would spin a lot more, and it would also 60' at least a tenth quicker if it hooked.

It seems like its all in the stock tune though, there were a couple modded C7Zs last night out there 60'ing well into the 1.4s with no delay on the hit.

I saw 2 of them with a cam, pulley, CAI, E85 and drag radials going 10.teens.

I just saw you run in Vegas without knowing who you were. Congrats on making the finals. For me, the Optima series is the best show in racing. Love it!
