2018 ZR1 Purchase - Just wondering

Burning Brakes
I'm with you on the traction issues, I can't see moving to more HP for a lot more money on this platform. I just don't live in ideal weather for most the year and 650 hp sure can be tough to put down!

I generally recall dreaming about Vettes long before I could own one. I don't think the prices have climbed all that much since then. The C6 ZR1 was $135k new. With the C7 Z06 typically topping out around $110k, I would still guess the ZR1 will peg the $135k range again. My 2c isn't worth its definition, but we all love sharing our opinions here .

I thought the 2009 c6 ZR1 started at $106k for a base model? So i assume it will start $115-$120k for a c7 ZR1

I'm definitely interested as by the time this hits the street I will have had my C7Z for 3 years. It sure looks like it will be an even more potent track weapon with bigger aero and more cooling. You have to expect a power increase and I do believe that the C7 platform can put down more power on the road course if you have a good suspension and aero. Like Lawdogg149 I also really enjoyed being one of the first to track the C7Z and get to learn about the platform.
Now whether I make the jump will depend on the cost and what they really offer. If you assume that my C7Z is likely only worth $65K by then and the new one costs $135K then I'm looking at $70K to trade-up. There better be some really exciting changes to make it worth $70K to me.

From reading the above posts I realize I am in the minority------this will be my last corvette (and yes, I did say that about the last two ---C6 Z06, and C6 2013 427----as well, but this time I mean it and not just saying it to placate my wife).
I don't track the car, and the 2015 Z06 gives me more power than I will ever use. Best corvette, by far, I ever owned......it will keep me VERY happy until I can't drive anymore and the kids (or grand kids) take my license away
I really thought more folks in their mid 60's and older would have responded in a similar fashion-------just shows how little I know.

Where's this confirmation of a mid-engine Vette from GM?

It's a track oriented Z06.. much like the ACR. I still don't believe it's a ZR1 that'll be unveiled at the auto show.
This Detroit better have a new Supra and ACR fighter..

It's unlikely I'm a buyer of another 'Vette, but I'm certainly interested in the coming model/specs/performance.
IMO I've still got the best value-proposition with my current ride...

So let's assume that at the Jan auto show GM reveals a new ZR1 or ZR-1, now what:
Just curious how many have already decided:
" I got to have one of those " If you are on this list; is your name on a list with a dealer?
OR are you in the "wait and see specs, pricing and what it actually looks like" What is your price breaking point?
OR fun to know GM did it, but won't buy one because satisfied with my current car.

It's easy to do.
Should find it difficult to figure out, ask a Mod for help.

Safety Car
To enjoy this car more I need two things:
1. Higher reliability and build quality
2. Lower weight for a more fun and consistent drive and lower consumables on track
The ZR1 will probably run a tiny bit cooler but I doubt it's any lighter. I'm holding off for the C8 and will keep using the Z updating to the revised cooling (if any).

I too will probably wait until the mid-engine arrives. However, since we're speculating, what if the ZR1 was AWD? It's extremely unlikely but would that change anyone's mind? It would me.

I'm not an engineer, but my thinking is AWD isn't an option with the C7 design and far too cost prohibitive to engineer for the near future. AWD would add weight to the car. A completely new design ie. speculation for the mid-engine C8 might include AWD.
