2018 ZR1 Purchase - Just wondering

Racer
I bought a 2016 Z because We were told by Tadge that there would be no C7 ZR1. What happened? Now there will be? Can't trust anyone. Sorry but for me there goes the credibility.
Lots of you have had more Vets than have I. I am on my 5th so maybe I don't count but it sure feels like a con job to me if it is true..RRM

I'm really not sure what you're so excited about that it merited 3 different posts. I was simply using those numbers as an example to point out that it's potentially a huge step to trade up to a ZR1. Maybe my car is worth less, maybe the ZR1 will cost less, maybe more. Nobody knows what it will be in a year.

In business, things can change in a hurry.

Good point. Various prototype sightings and two big plant expansions at Bowling Green indicate GM will indeed build a new mid-engine model there. But will it be a Vette?
Johan de Nysschen has big plans to remake Cadillac. A new mid-engine Cadillac racecar will debut in the Prototype class at the Rolex 24 at Daytona next month driven by Jeff Gordon. It's a striking design. Perhaps Johan initiated this program to pave the way for a new mid-engined halo car for Cadillac.
Maybe the winged Corvette we see at the NAIAS in 4 weeks, whatever it's called, will be the ultimate Vette for a few more years.
Eventually the low volume mid-engine Cadillac architecture could filter down as a basis for an affordable mid-engine Corvette.

The 15 is a fantastic car with simply great power. For me more than I really need as I am not racing the thing or even coming close to working this car out. For me it's just plain fun to drive with the 7 speed. Pretty sure I haven't even had it in 7th gear yet. The 700 plus HP likely to be in the 18 ZR1 is simply not practical for me but I found myself searching for a way to get a deposit on one today...
That non power latching back hatch on the 15 is what I will use to rationalize the upgrade.... haha
I am curious as to the interior as well. I expect it will be very much the same as the current 3LZ with some flash and maybe special seats. Can't find anything on that. Also curious about the wing.. not a big fan but I admit it doesnt look out of place on the car. Maybe just out of place on me.
Anyway it's good to be signed up here finally and thanks for the very good information on these great cars from so many dedicated and knowledgeable owners and sponsors.

Creative packaging – The 10-speed is approximately the same size as the six- and eight-speed transmissions, minimizing changes to vehicle interfaces.
Quicker shifts than a dual-clutch transmission – Testing has shown faster upshift times than the Porsche PDK dual-clutch transmission. In fact, the 1-2 upshift is 36-percent quicker than the PDK, while the 2-3 and 3-4 upshifts are 27-percent and 26-percent quicker, respectively.
Reduced spin losses – Thanks to only two non-applied clutches – the same number as the eight-speed – as well as other design features, the 10-speed automatic has lower friction that contributes to greater fuel efficiency over GM’s six- and eight-speed automatics. New ultra-low viscosity transmission fluid also reduces friction, while an internal thermal bypass allows the transmission to warm up faster – attributes that enhance fuel efficiency
GM-developed controller – It is the latest transmission to use an all-new, GM-developed control system, with performance calibrations tailored specifically for different vehicles.

I
LOVE MY 16Z. I HAVE HAD AT at least 1 of every type ZO6, modern ere, and would go for the mid engine car if I like the look. But, not the first year. GM needs to make that car perfect out of the gate. THEY WILL NOT DO THAT. All the lies they have put out plus lack of quality have convinced me to wait. At least 2 years for them to correct the problems. Am I WRONG???

I think we will see a ZR1. Bigger blower, stickier tires, better aero, better cooling, possibly different cam and better tuning.
For it to work they have to get the chassis to work to get the power to the ground. IMO that is the big challenge.

That's info released by GM on the A10 performance. The A10 has not overheated in the ZL1 Camaro. Not that I've heard anyway.

Traded the 15 Z for a 17 Z / Z07 and put my deposit down today for the ZR1 in 18..... 1st in line at Sherwood Park Chev. Let's see what this car is about. It's win win. Happy with the 17 if the ZR1 is not available in Black/Black/Black Manual or is priced beyond reach.
let's see what happens....

ZR1 in my future.
I predominantly track my current C7Z51 on two or three tracks around the Pacific Northwest, with an occasional fun tour sometimes. Will plan the same with a ZR1. When you're on a track day, what's not to like, better cornering, better braking, and better acceleration.
Life is short for this Social Security Recipient.
Price can be a factor for some, but consider the competition... Now we're not comparing ourselves to 911s anymore, it's the real supercars that we'll be taking on with prices three times an estimated ZR1 cost. Ferraris, McClarens, Bugattis, etc.
Not interested in waiting for a Mid Engine C8. No rumors about an increase in HP, and I doubt it will have the track capability of a 2018 ZR1.
I can't imagine the engineers, not fixing some of the cooling problems and other glitches I've experienced with my 2015 Z51.
Just my two cents.

3081 shows the several nice changes and attention to quality increase.
The 2017 is really a 9.9 out of 10 and rivals the cars 3 times and more the price.

Nailed it! Second year on the ME for me. So I hope we see a 2019 ME. They get better at making them as they increase in numbers. My 2015 4411 compared to the 2017
