2018 ZR1 Purchase - Just wondering
So let's assume that at the Jan auto show GM reveals a new ZR1 or ZR-1, now what:
Just curious how many have already decided:
" I got to have one of those " If you are on this list; is your name on a list with a dealer?
OR are you in the "wait and see specs, pricing and what it actually looks like" What is your price breaking point?
OR fun to know GM did it, but won't buy one because satisfied with my current car.

As a ZR1 loyalist, I'm taking a wait and see approach. If it's got the wing, I'm out. Regardless, I'm far more excited about the mid-engine car coming behind it.

I think it's a confusing time for many hasd core Vette buyers. Typically we wait for the newest high performance model and lust after it. Now we have conflicting thoughts and info regarding the ZR1 and the mid-engine car.
I think some won't jump on the C7 ZR1 (if it's called that) and wait for the mid-engine version. Interesting times for sure!

The ZR1 will have to be a LOT better than the C7 ZO6 in terms of horsepower styling and features before I'll jump on one.

Just bought my new Z06 in June. Really enjoying this now. I'm sure I will move up at some point when the mid/rear engine cars are being sold. In any event, I am at least 3 years away from another new Corvette purchase. If a mid engine supercar is $150,000, I will wait until lightly used models are available at a fraction of that price.

You're going to see the new 2650 Eaton rotor pack in the 2.6 or 2.7L blower and likely the 10 speed option. Not sure what else they can pack into it other than those two, but it'll be interesting to see if the est 100hp bump will drive the Z06/Z07 guys to climb up to it. I'm on the fence personally with the mid engine C8 so close behind it

Aside from the king of the hill cool factor, there really isn't anything my Z06 can't do that I'd need a ZR1 for.

Based on the camo photos and renditions, I still think the Z06 is the better looking car for the street which is where 99% of my driving will occur. Since I'm shopping for a 2017 C7Z, I'm hoping that whatever GM announces in Detroit, it will help me secure a better deal or at least help me decide if I want to wait for 2018 if any of the enhancements are planned for the Z06 or both.

No chance that i would pay 60-80k to upgrade from my 15 Z... i can add a 100 hp, cooling and suspension upgrades for 10 grand and still have an S ton of money left over to cover broken components from my voided warranty

The current Z humiliates 90% of the rear engine cars out there. With a ZR1 on the horizon kicking it up a notch, how good (and expensive) is a rear engine gonna need to be? I'll be on the record saying "it won't be"...... as good that is. It will be a competitive effort early on for those who want/ need the engine in the back and golf clubs in the front regardless. Personally I don't care for and would never own one as the basic platform has an aesthetic goofiness to it thats hard to overcome.

Well as an owner of a '13ZR1 I am interested but do not know if I will be able to afford one at this point in time. I do firmly believe that there will be a new C7 ZR1, it makes marketing sense. With the C8 surely to be mid-engine the C7 ZR1 will probably be the ultimate performance front engine Vette ever made, the last "hooray" . But as others stated, with the mid-engine around the corner and the new ZR1 more than likely well into 6 figures, many may pause on purchasing one when waiting a little longer and for around the same amount of coin you could have the new mid-engine. It may boil down to whether you want the last ultimate performance front engine Vette.

As previously stated the wing is a nonstarter.
Plus I love my Z.
Plus midengined hybrid Z06 will be here before we know it. That's MUCH more interesting.
