I am so Tired of hearing people and Magazines talking about how great and awesome the Grand Sport is. What about the Z06? Did they forget that the Z06 is it's big brother. That's like sayings that the pony is a better horse than an Arabian stallion. Forget about it. I am not doging the Grand Sport in way, you just can't compare the two cars and what they are for and about. Respect the Big Z06-Z07 little brother Grand Sport. That's just my 2 cents.

Relax, Mr. Sensitive. If your ego feels this bruised about praise for the GS over the Z06, you're really going to need a safe space when the ZR1 comes out.
I've never been a part of such a feeble group of car guys. I know testosterone levels drop significantly in your 60s, but jeez...turning into a complete weenie is not something I'm looking forward to. Hopefully the next 25 years brings significant advancements in hormonal therapy.

I get what the OP is saying. That's just what magazines do tho, they praise the new models like they are the savior to the company. Look at Porsche and how they praise the cayman, when the 911 really is the better car. Just buy whatever you want and don't read the magazines. Lol.
GS is a great car, but you're right...it's no z06, but then again it's not supposed to be.

got you talking about it OP. Now ANYBODY you tell will grab a magazine or search for this subject.
congrats lol.
I like to think it's the car media trying to put their own stamp on "who wins". You know like the regular media with the past election. Reality doesn't matter to them one bit. It's their agenda (plus it sells and also, they want the earliest access to each new model).

Also agree on the marketing aspect...they say it's the perfect blend because GM wants them to. This makes it such a strong selling Corvette model each generation. I do have to question why reviewers say the Z06 has too much power for the chassis. I absolutely do not think that's true. I find that to be the most annoying thing I read about the Z06.

I think OP needs more Black Label.

Just so you know, the Grand Sport is Great and Awesome. It is an excellent variant and will be the right car for a lot of people. I loved my 2012 GS but got pretty sick of the "Z06 wannabe" attitudes here.
The Z06 launch stumbled and started with some bad press, the GS is not stumbling and is getting its due praise.
We are all Corvette fans here right?

^^^^That's the Real spirit right here...
Pure sport is N/A and they usually get more praises, not just because GM is pushing it, it is because the majority out there love that about a car that can deliver without anything "added"
You can see the "car Media" trying to praise the new Porsche with the 3.0L TT and they are trying to "talk" the public into them and tell them how they still don't like the idea of a turbo added to the legend BUT... and then they go down on how it is great, blah blah blah...
It is all about what you can feed the people and how much BS the people are willing to eat.
From seeing how the masses are - without getting too political- they do eat a lot of BS!
So, you guys love your Z, know what your Z is to you and what it is capable of, love it, enjoy it, drive it and PRAISE IT!

Just because something is written, spoken, or reported, it doesn't make it true.
If it's that bothersome, then simply ignore and enjoy your car.

the one comment I don't understand is when the journalists say he z has too much power. I guess if you floor the car in the corners it does. I have tracked my car a few times and haven't thought it has too much power. In fact once I get the wheel straight I wish it had more power. i think some of these journalists think we should limit horsepower.
Anyway, I love my z and couldn't be happier. I do think he gs is a nice car, I just like having 650hp.

Amazed at how many dumbass threads like this are made. Do you guys not realize whatever the newest model is ALWAYS get the praise and accolades ?? Magazines want to sell magazines and websites want traffic so they have to talk about the latest models. Also it's a plus for them to say controversial things and get people talking. Congrats it's worked.

I'm a Corvette fan and I like all models. Some more than others, but to constantly rip the GS owners as Z06 wannabes is wrong. The GS is what the GS is and the Z06 is what the Z06 is. If they come out with a ZR1 in 2018 or a track inspired Z06X, it will also be what it is.
Unless you are pro driver, the fact is you will probably not be able to manage the differences between the three cars anyway. Sure, the Z06 will be faster off the line than the GS and the ZR1 will probably be faster off the line than the Z06, but for 95% of the Corvette buying crowd, the differences will never be truly tested on a regular basis.
Buy what you feel comfortable with and enjoy it. I'm shopping a 2017 Z06, but I've seen some very nice 2017 GSs as well and from a pure cosmetic perspective, I think the GS can be made up to look the best out of the lineup. I saw an Arctic White GS with Adrenaline Red interior and the matching red fender hash marks and calipers matched up with the Grand Sport black satin wheels and it looked outstanding to me in a Ron Fellows type of way.

I am still enamored with the admiral blue with skunk strip red hash GS. I wouldn't cry losing my 650hp Z06 for a 3LT GS in those colors. At all.
I think each of us has a "dream car" configuration that we balance between opportunity and value and we make our choices based on those parameters.
but anyone that says they'd pick a similarly equipped GS over a ZO6 for same dollars (within a couple grand) is full of it.
Unless they have money to burn.
For me? Under 80k for a 96k Z06 vs 80K for a 87k GS is a no brainer. Not like I "comprimised" in a negative way.
next time? If deal was same I'd do it again. I value my cash too much to turn down that deal.
but yes GS are fantastic. Not for same money as Z06 though. That's a ripoff imo
