Curious to hear your opinions
Hello corvette forum members. I have a curious dilemma and I would like to hear your thoughts and reasoning.
I can either get a 2016, racing yellow, 3lz, auto, black rims, yellow calipers, ect for $79,995 or 2017 racing yellow, 2lz, manual, black rims, yellow calipers, museum delivery, ect for $83,000. The 2016 msrp is $99,956 and the msrp on the 2017 is $92,536. So it's either go with the 2016 3lz and save around $4,000 or go with the 2017 2lz but get the museum delivery. I have never done the museum delivery before but kept hearing on here how it's a lifetime experience.
I know in the end it's my choice but I am curious to hear your opinions and reasoning. Thanks for reading and giving your imput.

If it were me, I would go for the 2017 because (1) it is a 2017, and for the short dollars in price difference, it is worth it to me to go new; (2) in this case the 2017 is the manual, and since this would be my toy, I would go for the manual, which my kids also prefer when driving my vette. However, if this will be your daily driver, or if you will be in stop n' go traffic a lot, I would go with the auto.
To me, the difference between a 2lz and 3lz is of no interest----as long as it has the front camera, HUD, auto memory seats, I am happy. i don't care about the PDR, suede this or that, etc.------ not that I wouldn't get the 3lz if the price and everything else was what I wanted, but not being a 3lz is not a deal breaker for me. I know for others, they love the 3lz----it is like ice cream----chocolate is great; vanilla is great; and so is chocolate chip; etc.---1lz, 2lz, or 3lz----all great---just a depends on what YOU like.
You can't go wrong with either car---best of luck with whatever you select.

PS--museum delivery wouldn't enter my decision process either. If the weather was nice I might be interested, but not sure. However, this time of year I would take a pass on museum delivery-------driving to NE on those tires in this weather isn't advisable. I know when I got my 2105 the tires were prone to cracking if driven in temps 20 degrees or lower per many posts on the Forum. Heck, there were some posts of cars with cracked tires coming off the delivery tucks in some states when it got real cold.

If you are planning to track the car, don't get 2016. I have a 2016 Z06/Z07 3LZ, I love the car, but I bought it to track it and the car has already gone into limp mode at 76 degree weather. I am planing to either get a ZR1 or a 2017 Z06.

Not going to track it a lot but plan on doing a few laps to have fun. Probably better to be safe with the 17 with no heat issues or less issues depending on how much it got fixed. Thank you

Melting Slicks
Save money and give G Speed a call. They have a cooling solution validated at COTA in the hands of a pro driver.

Both are great options. I personally would go with 2017 and for sure manual for weekend and/ or performance driving purpose. You would get the updated supercharger as well which is another plus.
I believe the museum delivery based on what friends told me.

Just two more thoughts and then I will bow out..............(1) These cars are notorious for kicking up road debris along the sides. From posts here on this Forum it seems folks are having good luck with BOTH side skirts and a good mud flap/splash guard (either O'Reily or Apsis seem to be the ones folks say work--------and I would have these installed PRIOR to driving off the dealer's lot). So, if one car had side skirts and one didn't, this would weigh in my thinking. And (2), you didn't say, but does one come with a 2nd roof? I bought my transparent roof after the fact from a guy that forgot to include it when he traded in his 2015 for a 2016.

These are some very good suggestions, I think I am definitely pushing for the 17 then. Thanks

The 17 would come with the solid yellow top because I am planning doing the dual racing stripes. The 16 has a carbon fiber top but both were priced out with single tops.

JMHO, I love the 3LZ for the "up-scale" feel and look of the interior and when you are approaching three figures for a car, it should look/feel like a three figure car inside and out. The '17 has the "latest and greatest" improvements and certainly represents the "state of the art" for current production. The NCM delivery was so cool for both myself and my wife, even though we battled terrible weather on our return home, that I will not buy another Corvette without R8C. I would even, if the weather was bad, go forward with the NCM delivery and pop the additional $ to have the car transported in a closed trailer home. Again IMHO, I feel that saving a few bucks (yeah $4K is more than a few) when you are making a "bucket list type" purchase starts the "woulda, shoulda, coulda" afterthoughts. I love my 3LZ, R8C (including the "buyers tour") Z and would not have done it anyway different. (With maybe the close trailer transport home). Just sayin'.

For me, it comes down to whether you want the auto or the manual. Other differences are minor.

LOL.. neither.. the right option would be a 17 manual with 2 or 3LZ & Z07. Pass both and keep looking.. there are tons of deals out there..
Manual is more fun if you're truly a car guy and love to drive and have fun with your car.. you also have more control vs. auto.
Z07 suspension is worth every penny.. the ride is sooo much better..
Ultimately, listen to your heart.. not what we say. We're not you!
