Default What is the best air intake for Z06

Hello,

I just received my new 2017 Z06 a few weeks ago. What is the best air intake that provides most power? Looking to buying a kit very soon.

From what I've read AFE/Halltech but the 2017s are super sensitive and can throw codes with either.

Halltech gets a lot of play on this forum, but I agree ^^^ the OEM isn't too shabby.

I had a C6Z and bought the Haltech for it , The fitment was so bad it never stayed on. It rubbed everything.
I may look into the AFE when I get my C7z in a few weeks

^^^ Yes several times. Must be a hell of a straw. FWIW I've purchased two Halltech CAIs. Still waiting on one that fits right. I've taken a hit every time.

^^^ Mine fit perfect and its a totally different car - GM left a lot on the table with this one. Imagine they needed to leave some room to grow for ZR1 sure it will have one closer to Halltech

Halltech really woke up my Z. Fitment wasn't perfect, but not as bad as others are stating. Worth every penny.

I would be concerned with the codes members have reported with these.

I would agree with your statement here... fitment is not great buy manageable...
My car picked up .22 sec in the qtr mile ET, and 5.3 MPH trap speed (after I added the Halltech CAI).
I would not get it if I have a 2017 though, too many people having problems with the stock tune being too lean with the HT CAI. This CAI leaned my car up one full point, but my car is a 2016 so it's ok.

Today, with my stock car/stock tune (2016 C7Z06 A8).....
(with halltech CAI and TRIC, and Drag wheels/tires)....
***NO OTHER MODS***...
ran a 10.39, 10.40, (2) 10.41's and a 10.42
(the fastest time today was in +255DA).

I am a believer, and so are the countless modded C6Z's, Hellcats, and GT500's and others who have seen it in action, from the rear.

I installed a HT RZ with the Nomex sox to my 16 A8 Z with tons of difficulty after watching all the you tube videos countless times and still struggling to get the hood to lie in place properly. It's raised on the corner passenger side. Yet, the car is Definately faster and you hear the SC whine louder. The RZ is way larger and has to help airflow compared to the smallish stock intake that is used for the base C7. I guess not all engines are exactly the same size and spacing. The support from Jim at HT was very prompt and helpful, but I still couldn't get it properly installed. But, I left the unit installed since no codes were sent and it is an improvement in performance.

10.70s with just a green OEM replacement filter for me at 132.95mph....on stock tires. I can't see buying a CAI that comes with fitment issues and minor-major surgery to install it without installation instructions. I did however consider one of the 3 CAIs offered for out cars and decided to try just the filter element that replaces the OEM paper filter. The OEM is small compared to the others. I just don't want to deal with the issues they present... codes, leaning car out too much, splicing hoses...etc. btw, I have a 16. Just my 2 cents.

^^^ Did you run your car before the filter swap?

Is there a seat of the pants difference that you feel between OEM filter and the green?

You know the motor isn't sucking 100's of square inches of air per second like a cruise ship or something. The car doesn't need large tubes because it looks cool. A dry performance filter is what I replaced all my KN's with. I got snappy response with less dead spots though out the power band.
I do throw a code from time to time but the ECU adjusts eventually
