Default Maybe the best X-Pipe for a stocker, PERIOD...

Anyone have any dyno results of a stocker before and after the X-pipe converters have been "thoroughly" cleaned out?

Just looking closely at the OEM "X-PIPE" part of the factory setup looks about as good as it could be and with the cats cleared out it looks like it would be hard to beat on something close to stock.

I have seen some dyno results with the catless Borla X-Pipe making approx. 10 HP more on the dyno in a stocker.

Are you referring to gutting out the existing OEM/Stock X-PIPE and comparing it to a Borla X-Pipe in terms of gains and maybe Sound as well?

There are many threads on this topic. I would paste a link of the one I started but I'm on my phone. Just search under my username in this section. I have before-and-after sound clips.

A borla catless x-pipe isn't a lot of money anyway.

For the time and effort you go in to gut out your stock x-pipe, might as well throw in an aftermarket one like corsa or borla. And you might save some weight with the borla too. I forgot how much, maybe 8-10lbs. Might not be a lot but it adds up lol.

But i'm curious to hear what it sounds like with a gutted stock x-pipe.

Our cars sound amazing stock but a bit too "exotic" for my taste. That's what i really miss about my C6 GS, when i added the long tubes with no cats, that LS SCREAMED. I loved it.

I have to agree with you there. My 11 GS sound was awesome, especially on deceleration.

Here are some pics of a gutted x-pipe. Anyone know the best method to clear/clean out these converters?

Looks like they may flow like "Niagara falls".

Gutted cat can still cause turbulence...it will never flow as good as a 3" section of pipe.

THIS ^^^

And they can sound terrible, you'll get all kinds of drone/popping/cracking sounds... Been there, done that.

Just buy an x pipe and be done.... UNLESS you have have to pass a visual inspection in your state, then I get it...

Here's my OEM X compared to Corsa's X. While the OEM isn't too shabby, the 3" mendal bends and quality of the Corsa is clearly better... HP? Corsa claims an additional 20 hp/15 tq on the Stingray, but that includes both the X-pipe and Extreme set-up (5:30 mark in the below vid).

I tried the 3" Corsa many months ago. I went with the Corsa over the cheaper Borla X-PIPE at the time because of the larger tube size thinking it would deliver more performance than the factory x-pipe/converters or Borla's catless x-pipe. WRONG!, From one week to the next week in slightly better air I slowed down (et & mph) in the quarter mile running the Corsa compared to OEM so I took the Corsa off and sold it. In hind sight I should of went with the Borla which is much lighter and uses the same diameter tubing as OEM and has shown on here (Not manufacturer) an approx. 10 hp gain over stock on the C7/Z06. Could it be that GM got it right? Still would like to know an answer to my original question.

This is what the complete Factory OEM exhaust has done for me so far.

BUT, always looking for more!

Borlas were a tenth quicker than Corsas in my car on back to back weeks. As far as sound goes, though, I'd take the Corsas anytime. They sounded mean, just plain mean.

With my buddy Willie. I had the Corsas on my old 2016 Z and they sound great but several folks have now confirmed that the smaller diameter 2 7/6 Borlas (same size as the stock X pipe) perform better going down the 1/4 mile than the 3 inch Corsas. Bigger is not always better.

Yes, that would be interesting & stock setup.

My corsa sounds amazing, if it did not come on the car I would have gone Borla but no regrets and I won't get rid of the sound for .1 in the quarter mile

I'm also curious if the "double helix" design of the Corsa mid-pipe is a drawback as well? Was that really necessary/advantageous...or simply a marketing ploy? Something along the lines of..."if one X is good, two must be better."

The Borla is a traditional X-pipe in its design, whereas the Corsa "crosses the streams" twice. It would be interesting to see if pipe diameter really is the only factor here as it relates to performance, if the two were truly an apples-to-apples comparison. Maybe there's something there...maybe not. Who knows?

this catless xpipe is a deal but no feedback on it.

I never installed one of these pipes or heard one that I understood had a aftermarket X pipe. Does either of the brands mentioned have that annoying drone? Is the sound just louder or deeper? I have an interest as its just another option to remove heat out of these pumpers on the road courses and I'll take an extra 10!

In NY we have a visual cat inspection requirement but if I remember these rear cats cannot be seen with the brace in place correct?
