Default Will I have overheating problems ?

Well I hope I'll get some replies on this. I think my last 2 post died.

OK here I go. I'm taking my first trip this summer and it's going to be hot all the way. I'm leaving Montana thru Idaho thru Nevada and going across Nevada on 80 into Sacramento. Then down 99 to southern Calif. Then coming back to Montana up 15 thru Vegas, tip of Arizona then Utah, Idaho and then home in Montana.

Question is almost all that diving will be in 100 plus degree driving. does anyone take a guess if I will have problems with the dreaded overheating that plagues these Vettes. I should add it's a 2016 Z07.

Your answers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

You have nothing to worry about. I have ran Z06 in hot summer days in so cal even in stop and go traffic without any issue.
majority of engine overheating issues are related to tracking A8 equipped Z06's.

Street/highway driving. . . you'll be arrested or dead before you ever overheat a C7 Z06.

Your Z06 will be fine. The majority of overheating issues were the result of tracking.

No.

It is amazing how blown out of proportion this issue is.

I took delivery of my 2016 Z06 last June in Ohio. I drove it across country to California. I spent 10 days on the road and drove through 11 states - went over the Rocky Mountains, the Sierra Nevada Mountains - and the highest outside temperature was only 100. I never had a single issue with engine temps. It did get up to 220 in rush hour traffic in Denver. I stopped at a Chevy Dealer and I was told that the Z06 setup was just fine at 220 at elevation, in stop and go traffic, in 95 degree ambient temperature. It was particularly hot going past the Great Salt Desert in Utah and on thru Nevada. But no problems and I had a great road trip with my wife who enjoyed the car and said it was more comfortable than her Lexus.

Make that three, one of the four doesn't count

Ran into him at VIR complaining to a friend he could only lap the full coarse at 2:11 because of overheating issues. So I asked wow did it go into limp mode? He replied, what's limp mode. After explaining I asked did it go down in power and how is it overheating, trans, oil, any DIC on dash? He Answered no, that he was monitoring coolant temp and it was 240 way too hot and didn't want to harm the engine?

A Donald Trump tweet........must be true. Seriously....more Viper ACR motors have blown than Z06's overheating. Do the math on ACR's produced. Total Vipers for 15/16 were less than 1,300.

It's not going to "overheat"!

Will your ECM be pulling some timing when your ECT gets warm? yes.
Will your ECM be pulling some more timing when your IAT2 gets warm? yes

Will you notice anything at all while street driving? very unlikely.

Think of it this way, when you go outside in the 100+ degree weather it's a good idea to wear sunscreen and use an umbrella at the ballpark.

Your ECM tune is doing just that for your engine, taking precautions to prevent damage. This is not overheating, this is precautions to prevent overheating (or other problems).

Yes, I'm looking at Tuesday (TrackDaze). Trying to change my schedule so I can make it Monday also, should know in the morning.

It will be a great time, I'm sure you will have a Z06 smile all day long. Working on getting alignment in the Triad, Kernersville did not have the CH-47960 angle Gauge. I will shoot you a PM after I find a good alignment shop.

I just got the DSC controller installed and had them do the alignment. It's absolutely a different car! We're (3 of us) going in Sunday night. Easy enough commute but I'd like to just wake up and be there for a change. Hope you can get there for both days.

Most event websites show people/cars that are signed up. I guess Track Days doesn't do that. I know that Poorsha is going as well.
