FYI: CHECK YOUR WHEELS - 2017 C7Z with 3 of 4 BAD
Heads up folks. I got new MPSS ZP tires mounted on my 2017 C7Z several weeks ago.
Tire shop called me and said all 4 OEM wheels were bent. Car had 4,700 miles at the time and no track usage. Only driven out in the country on fun roads. I don't recall ever hitting even one cringe worthy hole and no offs.
Car has had a slight vibration since new but had gotten a bit worse, however, it still wasn't really bad. It really wasn't bad enough for me to think I had bent wheels or even take it to the dealer to have it checked.
Took it to the dealer and the runout on 3 of the 4 wheels was past acceptable tolerance. They are replacing the 3 out of spec wheels under warranty today. One front and both rears.
There wasn't a mark on the wheels or any indicator suggesting impact or an event. Don't really know the cause or when/how it happened. Friend of mine who owns a shop suggested they could have been been damaged by the transporter.
I would think it highly unlikely to get that many "bad" wheels out of a batch in both 19" and 20".
Hard to figure out but you all might want to check the runout on your wheels.
For the record, many have said since switching from Speedline's made in Italy the wheels were being sourced from China. Not true in my case. My wheels were made in Mexico.

I'm think the way I use the car I might need to get a set of forged for the street as well.
I didn't notice it getting worse but my son who doesn't drive the car on a regular basis noticed it from the last time he had driven.
Think I'll have the same issue with the OEM wheels if I get rid of the run flats?

That would make sense as it got progressively worse as miles on the car increased. I'm switching away from the run flats to the standard MPSS for street and looking to buy a set of 18" forged for the track.

That's the setup I have, forged 18s for track and stock for street use but using non-runflat tires. I didn't think it's worth spending money for forged wheels on the street. I would also never run the run-flats again, much too stiff. Oh I also have a size up sidewall height and run only 30 psi.
Also, I always run 30 pounds on the street in the the run flats and standard. Am I missing something?

My tires always come back 32 psi from the shop and I pull 2 psi out. I assumed the door jamb asks for 32 psi.

If wheels are bent in any appreciable manner, the driver should sense vibration.
Fortunately, I don't in my Z.

Wow... didn't have my stock wheels long enough to notice. Glad I got rid of mine.
I'm more glad to be able to provide an affordable fully forged wheel solution for your track 18" wheels.
I'm ready for your street setup whenever you are ready.

That sucks and should not be happing, a bend may be a crack sooner than later! Could you imagine how bad they would be if you guys were tracking those and bouncing off the curbs! So.... if buying an extra set of stock wheels the value of the 15's just went up! I've tracked my stock wheels many days and they are doing just fine. Made in Italy I assume.
GM saving dollars and getting wheels produced in Mexico, well that may be short term. Hopefully production moves to the good old US of A soon!

Unfortunately it is more the money than the place and if they go cheap the quality from a US supplier may be even worse. With the industry wide cost pressure put on suppliers it is surprising that component quality isn't even lower.

I just bought a 2017 Grand Sport and it has an intermittent vibration. I originally thought a tire was out of balance but, the vibration is not contstant. I wonder if this is the problem? I need to get it back to the dealer.
