Shane offered me either the 24th or the 25th as well. Maybe they are doing multiple Customer Builds on a given day now?

I always did my best work on Monday - I had all weekend to think about it!

DRTBYK

I had a discussion with someone who built his engine last October, he told me to bring cash, as there is a factory shop (store) that sells shirts, hats and stuff that is branded with the Bowling Green factory emblems & Stingray Z06 logos you can't buy anywhere else. I'm picking him up a shirt when I go as he didn't have cash.

My previous builder contact told me they have 3 assembly lines and the we use line 1 only and there is only one parking spot and such, luckily we both didn't want Monday...lol, maybe we have gotten to work overtime!

Has to be more than one parking spot since we'll both be there on the 25th & 26th. That's what Shane gets paid the big bucks to figure out I suppose.

Just requires me to buy a set of PSS's after I roll out the door of the Museum and ship the PSC2's home.
You guys are going to have some fun. When we picked up mine from a dealer I had about 1200 miles to get home. I brought wheels and tires with me. The dealer pulled it out of the showroom and I changed them before heading out. We brought my wife's truck so I had a support team an a full set of "spares" for the ride home.

The one space parking spot is for the engine build only, we'll have to find other spots the next day, see pics they sent me about parking.

According to Shane Webb, our "Event Code" or status level was at 3000 yesterday (a requirement) when he booked our Engine Builds. Apparently he sees that status before the Dealers do on Thursday.

My Dealer was a bit surprised when I told them yesterday that the order was at 3000 level.

MJ, I sense your enthusiasm and you won't be disappointed. I did the engine build two years ago in March. I was #4 to go through the build and I think the first paying customer. The first 3 were Co. and dealer special freebies.
It took me 7 hrs to build my engine vs my mentor (who watched every move I made) he builds 3.5 engines in the time I did one.
Actually you do the Final Assembly of the major components, the heads are pre assembled, the supercharger is assembled less the lid, and most covers, pan, SC lid, front cam drive, all have pre installed captive bolts. I did touch every part making sure all oil lines and surfaces were clean from packaging dust and lubricanted. Mine weighed 503 lbs when completed with A8 flexplate installed vs the LS7 being built there at that time 460 lbs. I'm sure that now they have streamlined the flow of work. I was a young 75 then and after the tour I was beat. Now I have 545 pictures, 8500 miles and 4 almost wore out Cup2 tires. Waiting for the Sport 4S tires.
All the parts are world class, first class parts. Every engine is the same.
Note: 400 ft. of Cup2 rubber.

Making reservations for my Engine Build / Buyers Tour for the week of April 24 thru 27th I found rooms were scarce. Couldn't understand why until I read the Corvette Blog and they mentioned the Corvette Bash is happening that week, I won't lack for entertainment that's for sure. Many people taking the Factory Tour may see my baby being built

I made my reservations as soon as Shane gave me the confirmed date. I'm over at the Hilton Garden Inn. Unfortunately, I'll be leaving for Nashville around Noon on the 27th - but I'll at least get to see the 2018 lineup.

VetteFlyer thanks for the info that's a great look Z06 love the details, yellow calipers and yellow trim on the rockers. Looks like you put it together right by the way it "peeled out", and you kept it straight!!!

I promised I'd share details about the experience. even the small ones.

Shane from the Museum, just sent me lunch menu for myself & guest at the plant. I heard quite a few people may join in for lunch like the engine builder, photographer, BG Executive., etc.

Michael,

We are looking forward to your participation in the Corvette Engine Build Experience at the GM Performance Build Center within the Bowling Green Assembly Plant.
Please provide meal/drink orders for you and your guest(s). Attached is the menu.
If you have any questions, please contact me.

Thanks,

Shane Webb

yeah, I am green with envy. I'm loving sharing the experience through this post. Bought my Z on the lot. Although I have absolutely no business building anyone's engine let alone my own, it would be great to witness the event. Keep posting so I can get a part of the thrill you must be feeling.
Thanks.

Michael, I'm posting this here and hope you don't mind. I just found out that the Delivery folks (Shane Webb) at the NCM will install your NoviStretch Bra (or GM Bra) prior to delivery for a small fee of $25. I'll be sending mine to them for sure. Well worth it to not have to do it in a parking lot before I hit the road.

Michael, don't know if you noticed by there is a GM Rebate for the Month of April on J57 option of $5K. Make sure to ask your Dealer about it!

I will write him right now! That's a big deal...wow!

Just talked to salesman, yes it's a real deal, if only they (dealer) gets invoiced before the deadline is my concern now!

Just received this update about the buyers tour which comes after the engine build:

I wanted to share some information regarding your upcoming Buyers Tour. Here’s where things stand as of today (4/11).

The car is estimated to be at trim (start of your tour) on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 and estimated to come off-line (end of your tour) on Thursday, April 27, 2017.

As it stands right now, your tour is scheduled to begin 9:30 AM (CDT) on 4/26/17. This is the time you and your (1) guest would need to be at the Plant to meet your guide.

Mr. Al Hurlbutt has been scheduled to be your guide/photographer. He will meet you at the Plant at 9:30 AM (CDT) on 4/26/17.
