The Wait: A guide to how to survive the 6-8 week build by Larry M
Dear fellow enthusiasts
On January 17th to January 21st I headed down the path of ordering a Z06, my first Vette ever Never even drove one, but have wanted one since The King of the Hill appeared in Car & Driver
So after 25 or so years seems to have flown by, how the heck am I going to deal with the next 6-8 weeks of waiting for my Z06?
Well, here it is...How to survive the wait in a few simple steps!
Step 1:
Build your Corvette over and over and over again on the Chevrolet Web Site
Step 2:
Receive order confirmation from dealership within a few days and start the clock! Enjoy a nice beverage, it's going to be a while
Step 3:
Begin tracking every single event. Reach out to GM Customer Service and have them alert you every Monday for status change
Step 4:
Start looking for your XPel installer
Step 5:
Start ordering car detailing items. Long list of products, but some of the headlines Pinnacle Black Label Ceramic Coating, 3D AAT polishing compounds, Kenotek QD, MF towels, Gyeon Cure, Optimum wash, ONR, etc etc etc.
Step 6
Order a QuickJack Lift to work on your new Vette
Step 7:
Order your aero kit! From who else but Caravaggio! His stuff is RIDICULOUSLY beautiful. (CF Spats came from APR)
Step 8:
Order new floor mats
Step 9:
Order jacking pucks
Step 10:
Build a life size replica with your new parts:
Step 11:
Clean your wife's car!
Step 12:
Order some booze for the occasion. On tap: 1995 Joseph Phelps Insignia and while we're at it, 2005 Joseph Phelps Insignia. Won an auction for some Quilceda Creek and my co-worker gave me a bottle of Tor Tierra Roja Vineyard (super nice guy and wine genius)
Step 13:
Go to the dealership and say hi about a month before your car comes in!
Step 14:
Clean your other toy car! She's not quite done yet, just finished polishing! Ceramic coating, wheels, tires, trim, etc etc etc.
Step 15:
Send your co-worker to the dealership to check your beautiful baby! Ironically the car came in 2 hours before she got there
Step 16:
Refresh the Corvette Forum 100X a day hoping for new posts!
Step 17:
Text a million times back and forth with someone who ordered their car 1 week ahead of you in my case 1RawTA helped me in the final week with his new baby
Step 18:
Pray this doesn't happen
Step 19:
Write a book 48 hours before you're scheduled to pick up your car
Hope you enjoyed the book! Only 47 hours 59 minutes and 10 seconds to go

This doesn't apply to just special orders, waiting a week to clear the salt off the roads was just as bad. I think I wore my browser refresh button out refreshing the Corvette forum.
Contgrats on the new car!

Larry M, you forgot to research and order the front and rear splash guards so those huge sticky tires don't throw rocks, sand, dirt, trash down the side of your new ZO6. I recommend ACS for the front and the GM for the rear.

Very nice!! I'd like to see a Spring countdown after you put it away for 3+ months after having fully enjoyed it for 3 seasons. I'd like to know that secret recipe!!

The rear brake duct, which probably doesn't get XPEL, is the primary target for the rocks thrown up from the wheels. Without the splash guards also the XPEL will get beat up pretty bad from what I am told. I think it takes the XPEL, skirts, and guards to adequately protect the ZO6. More $$$$$$.
[QUOTE=Larry M;1594258165]I'm getting the entire car wrapped in XPel, I thought about the splash guards, but hoping skirts and XPel will be sufficient.

Rolls of blue masking tape
Step 22:
