New Tony Mamo Ported TB
I have posted a couple of times about the issues and sensitivity of my 17' Z06 M7 to changes in replacing the TB. I have ordered and installed 2 other manufacturers ported TB which both resulted in codes & limp mode issues on my car. Now, I am in no way saying that there were defects with the products That I received, I think it is totally with the sensitivity of the intakes on the 2017's. I had returned my car back to stock TB and couldn't stand the throttle hesitation, so I called and talked to Tony Mamo about these issues I was going thru, Tony agreed to send me a TB that was ported to a little bit less aggressive degree than that of the 2015's & 2016's. I received and installed it last Tuesday, then went to COTA for a 2 day event this past weekend. Ran 2 days, 5 sessions a day, 150+ MPH WOT, and no issues what so ever...... car ran great. In addition to no TB issues, I also had no cooling problems with the 17' Z at all.......
Thanks Tony for helping to solve my problem with the ported TB.

I had started the Mod process with the ported TB and a CAI when the issues started with codes & limp mode, so after trying a couple of TB's and CAI from different manufacturers I took it off, went back to stock.......
right now the new Mamo TB is all that I have back on the car
right now the new Mamo TB is all that I have back on the car
Just to clarify I have sent other customers with 2017 cars my standard TB porting and have had zero issues. Knowing this particular car had lots of trouble with a few other's vendor's product however and not wanting to disappoint I did send the OP a slightly less aggressive option of what I normally ship. It wouldn't be very noticeable in the way the car drives (all the upsides from the ported TB would still be in place)....but what I did just helped give him a better shot of not throwing codes and having any issues.
To date I have not had a single issue with any of my TB's but with the OP's situation and all his past experiences I thought it best to send him something a touch more conservative than I normally ship and it seems everything has worked out great.
Im like the Burger King of throttle body porting services now.....have it your way.....LOL
(And Im dating myself big time with that joke! )
Also guys I am trying to reach out and clarify with the OP whether he had any issues with the other vendors just installing their TB on his vehicle as a solo mod.....comparing mine without the other mods involved wouldn't be a fair comparison if that wasn't the case. I do feel the TB I sent him would still work great with the CAI included in the mix and perhaps we may revisit that soon assuming he still has the aftermarket CAI and is up for that test.
Bottom line (should the need arise) Im willing to do anything custom that needs to be done if I run into a "finicky" install but so far its been pretty smooth sailing for all the Z06 customers I have helped.
Cheers,
Tony

As a clarification, I tried the other TB's both with and without the CAI, and the issues were present on the CAI as well at the stock intake.
And again, I am not saying that the products caused the issues, I am pointing the finger at the Z06 sensitivity issues as the cause........

If you were getting a P0106 code there is now a fix. I raised hell with GM a few weeks ago because of the cel and reduced engine power. Emailed Mary Barra and i got a response from Corporate the very next day! They wire my car up, took it to Pocono and logged the "event". The 2017 Z06's need RECALIBRATION. The new calibration is now available (had mine done this morning). New calibration number 12690269. Bulletin # 17-NA-264. A quick reflash of the ECM. I dont know anymore other than they probably went back to the 2016 parameters.
I wonder if you need it be throwing a code for them to reflash.

I mentioned this exact concern to GM at Carlisle on Saturday. I felt they should reach out and alert Dealers to re-flash 2017 Z06's for any customer that REQUESTS it! It will, in my opinion, be a fraction of the 6100 cars sold. Their response was "Then it would be a "Campaign"!! Technically speaking, the car is advertised to go 190+. In its current state it cannot meet the vehicle specs. This should be a recall but, at the very least, allow a re-flash to any customer requesting it. I would start with your local dealer. Tell them you plan on tracking the car and know it will fail so you request the re-calibration.
