Yep. That's why when mine came up at under 79k from 97k I jumped.
i researched a 3LT Z51 then I wanted to add everything and a sc. THEN I said ok gs gets me the widebody for 10k more. Then I'll put a blower on that!.

THEN I said what am I a moron? It will still only be a GS with a blower. And at this price I can grab a 20k off Z06 and all that comes with it including the higher resale to justify the price (compared to much less off msrp vs GS).

the widebody was nunber 1 priority. 2 MSRC. 3. Power.

if you're someone that gets enjoyment out of being pretty much the top dog at any traffic light or on the road at any given time, sans a ridiculously modifield ride or hypercar, nothing beats that feeling knowing underneath your right foot is the power to annihilate others!!

the only danger is speed. You open this thing up in 3rd (A8) at say 30mph and it's into the danger zone in seconds lol. Whereas with the LT1 you have a few more seconds of the thrill, at a lower level and can be whooped up on by many 4drs from Audi, MB and even the hellcats.. but hey, we don't buy these cars to be beaten by others so it's was either modify LT1 or buy the LT4. In end you get better return on the Z06.

but, if you're squeezing into a new C7 just to have a new vette by all means no shame in grabbing a new 1LT c7 for under 50k. Which is a screaming deal. I just know myself. I want creature comforts better stereo front camera and power. In end smart financial move for those with self control are definitely those 1LT cars for 47 or even 45k... but I am not smart joe do I have the self control lol.

The other option Im strongly considering is adding a Z28 to the garage. It's only a couple thousand more and then I'd have the grand touring z51 and the track rat LS7 with carbon brakes...

Since you're in Michigan, have you checked out Les Standford Chevrolet? I got my ZO6 there for about 11 thousand under the sticker price. That was their advertised price, meaning that I didn't need to play any games with them to get that price, and they didn't try to jack me around when I showed up prepared to pay their advertised price.
Bought mine there too and absolutely no games or changes to quoted price. Showed up at 6pm and paperwork was all ready and i was out the door in the new Z06 in about an hour. Bought my ZR1 there too with same experience. Easiest dealer to deal with in my lifetime so far.

double the reg, insurance, maintenance. In long run better served with one toy unless you have money to burn

I just want to add that the only true cost of upgrading is the depreciation on that 40 grand.

If you are going from a C7 to a C7z, you'll likely also go to a C8 when it comes out.

You'll get some of that 40 grand back at that time.

Good point.

Looking at the numbers if I had ordered a 2017 2LZ with Z07, I would only get GMS price (no Corvette loyalty and let's assume no $5k rebate for J57). With tax it would be $93,500.

By owning my 2015 Z51 my total costs going into the 2LZ is $102,000

Cost to own my Z51 comes out to $404 a month, not too bad.

I am sure that most car guys can justify anything car related, I do all the time!!
The Z06 is amazing and you will never regret 650 hp. and 650 ft. lbs. of torque.
If the $ numbers work for you, I say go for it. Life is to short to say "I whish I would of!"

That you could own a 2015, drive it for a few years, sell it and get into a brand new Z for a but over MSRP in total between both cars...is a deal and a half. Just do it!

Have Katech do a Procharger setup on your Z51 for around 8k and wait for the C8 to come out then. Will save you a lot of money in the long run.

I wouldn't do it. It's not worth $40k over your car.

After sleeping on it for a week and seeing multiple Z07's in the wild I'm going to do it. I can easily afford it, my car is paid for, and life is short.

Sexy cars or women make you do really dumb things!

I just did the upgrade myself from a 2012 GS Centennial Edition with 5,000 miles I paid $42k for a 2LZ with A8, competition seats and stage 3 aero. It's worth it %! If you have access to the GMS plan that saves you just over $10,000! If you want a great dealer to go to in MI just message me and I'll give you my contact. They take GREAT care of people!

I had a 2014 1LT C7 (M7) with give or take 900 something HP, then a 2016 3LZ Z06 (A8), now a 2017 1LZ Z06 (M7 Z07).

The Z06 is nearly a different car from the base model.
I didn't think I really cared about the Z07 package but I actually prefer it now.
I thought I would miss the 3LZ stuff but I don't at all.
I thought I would like the A8 more but I got bored just "riding" in the car rather than "driving" it. The paddles didn't pull me in enough like a PDK does to stop thinking about a manual transmission.

The Z06 has much more presence than the base model as well. That would be the same as the Grand Sport, but honestly, the GS and Z06 prices overlap and I would never pay more for a GS than I could get a Z06 for.

I also currently daily drive a 2016 CTS-V and it also has the LT4, it's just awesome. I'll leave the LT1 (L83) for the Silverado.

BTW, I paid $52 on a $58 sticker for my 14
traded it two years later for $47 and paid $87 on a $95 sticker for the 16 (before all the big discounts)
traded that in 11 months later for $71 and paid $79 on a $91 sticker for the 17

I was talking to a buddy back in December about buying my z06. Basically, he said that he felt like he had been living too conservatively and wished that he had bought this Porsche about the same time I got my z. I said, you need to plan for your future but live in the moment. If you want the car go for it.

Literally two two days later he got ran over by a car.

Fortunately he is okay now, and was recently able to return to work. But this whole conversation made me take pause for a moment. It really can be over just like that.

Beginning January 1, 2017, owners trading in a motor vehicle or trailer coach receive a sales tax credit for the vehicle’s trade-in value up to a maximum of $3,500. This is a $500 increase from the 2016 maximum of $3,000. The partial sales tax trade-in credit increases by law $500 annually. Note: the delivery date determines which credit amount is applied.

Yeah, I find it insulting that the state is touting this as a tax break. The registration increase in 2017 will more than offset this great tax benefit.

I really dislike the state of Michigan

I have purchased (mostly) or leased ~12 new vehicles in the last 10-11 years. I've had to shell out most of the 6% sales tax on each and every one of these (except the small percentage we were able to get back when the law first went into effect back in 2013, I believe).

Last year my car registrations totaled about $600. I can only imagine what this year will look like.

I really dislike the state of Michigan
