Removed, I would have set the car on fire if I had to do it on the car...lol autozone sells the same type 3m double sided tape to replace that works awesome once you remove them.

I think they run the special every 3 or 4 months, so they must be due any week now. Last time I ordered, they were on a 4 week back order schedule because of everyone that pulled the trigger. Business is good.

Is there a tutorial video anywhere on how the factory spats come off and do most people do this themselves or take it to a shop? I'm convinced that I have to get rid of the factory plastic spats on my new Z so any help would be appreciated.

The look is okay, but now you have surfaces that will chip over time from road use, etc,. The plastic stuff is pretty easy to clean and a chip doesn't hurt it.
IDK...

Wouldn't seem the painted outside/topside of the spat would be any more likely to chip than the painted fender it's attached to.

I couldn't find any video but found a small write up that told me that the screws and double sided tape were the only things holding them on. I didn't believe it at first but it's true, that tape HOLDS though, my advice is to take all the screws out and start at the back corner and slowly add pressure pressing down and back into the wheel well to almost peel it back and off little by little, you'll understand better when you do it but don't be afraid it will come off.....even if it doesn't feel like it...lol

Thanks for the info, man. So, you took the plastic ones off yourself and installed the aftermarket ones? Any issues along the way or did everything go smoothly? Also, does the tape holding the stock ones on the car come off or does it stay stuck to the car and the new spats stick right to it? If you had to put new tape on what did you use? Thanks again for the help.

Before

After

now you need led tinted lights like mine to finish off the look.

Yeah I think Carbon flash is the way to go.

Both look great, can't go wrong.

I guess that might be a .0001% part of why GM gave us the ugly painted Spats, let the owner make their car a little more unique with body color, Carbon Fiber, Carbon Flash, or whatever

I removed my stock one, wrapped them and then reinstalled. The tape mostly came off the car but was easy to roll off with my fingers after I got the spats off. Since I reused mine I had to get the old tape off them and that was a pain but I did and used some 3m tape like the stuff that was from the factory, they sell it at autozone. It went really smooth after I figured out that it did just pull off and the tape was just strong. It really holds so you'll question yourself at first...lol just start on a corner and slowly add more and more pressure inwards and down. You'll figure it out once you start doing it, it will "peel" off basically though.

Looks nice but I like the Black better with TR black wheels and stage 1 spoiler. Now if you had red vents and other accents in Torch Red I think the red spats would be the way to go.

Just got my Carbon Flash spats installed a couple weeks ago(ordered from Corvette Mods) and I am 100% thrilled with how they look on the car. These spats perfectly match the front splitter, side skirts, spoiler and all the other CF trim pieces on the car. This is how the car should have come from the factory....thanks for the cheap plastic spats, GM!!!
