Driver's Comp seat did it in my car also. Fixed by dealer but creaking sounds coming back again. Separation the next step probably.

Sad to see this. It looks like the clips are faulty or the build process needs to be improved. Is the warranty work or replacements working any better?

I have a 2016 Z06 with comp seats and both the driver and passenger seats make creaking noises. This started pretty soon after I got the car and has been getting slowly worse over time. I bought car new at 3 miles. After tracking the car, it didn't change much. No separation. Seems like the sound is from the back or possibly the carbon fiber insert area.
Creaking sound happens when I move around in the seat like when I shift around or shimmy. Worse when I do spirited driving, it squeaks and creaks during cornering. I am 6' tall, 160 lbs.
Dealer has looked into it but didn't find anything to fix. Will continue to monitor.

I just thought I'd add to this as my 2015 Z06 has the same issue.

I bought the car used with just over 14,500 miles on it. I bought it from a dealer so I don't know the full history other than what carfax says. Both comp seats were fine when I took delivery of the car in December 2017. The other day when I was detailing the car I saw that the passenger comp seat trim was coming apart. I figured it may have come unsnapped. When I went to push it back in I found it was loose and I was able to simply remove it. All the clips had broken off. I have no idea how it happened. The only person to sit in the seat was me and that's just from detailing the car. I'm 6'1" and 230 pounds.

I plan to call the dealer and see if they will cover it under warranty since the car should be covered until May this year according to GM.

Here's what the seat looks like. I simply stuck the bezel back in the seat as I don't want to drive around without it. Hopefully it stays in place or I'll be forced to duct tape or glue it until a new part arrives.

This is what I first saw, the seat coming apart.

All the clips are busted with most still being in the slots.

You can see all the clips being busted. They must not be strong enough. I'm guessing they are plastic and not carbon fiber?

Sounds like Chevrolet needs to come out with a TSB. I doubt the same material / spec is going to last long term.

Can they just be glued at the connecting points and clamped --- or is it a bigger issue?

2015 Z06/Z07 no failures yet but, this has me concerned. Love the seats. Only Autocross, few HPDE’s in 12K miles. VIN XXXXX3341. Wonder if the failure could be supplier related. GM has notoriously changed suppliers throughout MY’s. Example early Z06 wheels made in China, later changed to Mexico.

Mine came off today. My original warranty expired couple of months ago. I stopped by the local dealer told me that the extended warranty does not cover it. I may be screwed. So many people are having the same issue. I will go to another dealer to see but I'm not too hopeful about it.

Can anyone advice if I can call GM or regional service manager or something to see if they can do anything about it?

Mine failed on the drivers side this past week. Luckily there were some locally and I had them from the dealer the next day. $250. A copy. Tried to search Trunk Monkey and GM Parts Direct but could not find a listing for that part. Like the OP virtually every clip broke off with only 13K miles. The plastic backing material was very brittle and crumbled easily when I tried to remove the remaining clips. I too was out of the 3/36 warranty.

It is ridiculous. You pay extra to get the competition seat and the bezel falls off on its own. That's a poor design. My car just passed 8,000miles today.

I have this same issue on my certified pre-owned 2015 Z06. Does anyone know if the CPO bumper to bumper warranty covers this?

I’m not sure what a CPO warranty is but, if it is in fact an “extension” of your 3/36 bumper to bumper, it should cover everything other than “wear items”. The ‘15’s have a 5/100 on drivetrain only after the 3/36 expires. I was just a couple of months out on my 3/36 so the dealer wouldn’t cover the insert. As brittle as the failed insert tabs were on mine, I’m kind of surprised there haven’t been more failures reported and GM do a warranty replacement extension on that item. My new replacement has made some small crunching sounds lately and I hope it is not beginning to fail as well.
