Comp seats coming apart?!?
anyone else had this happen?? Both of my comp seats are broken behind the neck area. Just bought the car so I don't know the history or how this could have happened.

I have never heard of this before and it is especially odd that both of yours were broken when you got it. Mine are fine and show no signs of breaking.

Take a look at your seat bottom. How many stitched sections are there? The comp seats have five on the back and four on the bottom:
The GT seats have three on the back and three on the bottom:
The reason I ask is because the Competition seat back conversions are popular for this car, but the base is never swapped. So a GT seat converted to a Comp seat will have five stitched sections on the back, and only three on the bottom.
The fact that they are both doing that leads me to believe someone may have done the conversion and not got it quite right. Because I have never seen this before on one seat, let alone both.
I did the conversion on my car, and I had a hell of a time getting the foam to compress enough to get the two insert pieces to stay together. I solved this by putting two clamps through each hole and clamped them overnight. This compressed things enough that they never popped out on me again.

Is there any chance the car got rear-ended before you owned it? That might account for BOTH seats being broken in that location. I could understand the driver's seat breaking from some weird coincidence, but not both.
Did you check a carfax? Doesn't really matter what the dealer/seller -said- about the car.

If the seat back trim bezels and/or back panel clips are not broken, just snap them back together...they may never have been snapped together properly as it is very hard with new foam and there are 10 clips on each. Also just fyi, these bezels list for $250/each.

Safety Car
I'm know a good number of owners who track their cars on a regular basis who's comp seats are coming apart "all over". These guys tell me it's their only regret with the car. I've no idea how they are with people who just street drive their cars.

1st time I hear or see this. Did you mention what year is your car and how many miles you have in the seat?

Mike told me he's happy he doesn't have them in his C7Z as "all" the people who he goes to the track with are having issues with them from a durability standpoint. He suggested I stay away from them as I track my car. FWIW, NOT trying to stir the pot just passing on info from a trusted source.

Thanks Rich. And just for the sake of completeness (so all the facts are listed for future reference) in case anyone 5 years down the line reads this thread: what are your measurements? (ie. Height and Weight)

Had this same thing happen with my 2015 comp seats. Fixed under warranty. They dealer had no explanation. My only thought is that I left my car uncovered quite a bit in high temperatures and wondered if the heat's effect on the leather may have put pressure on the clips? When I tried to reclip myself, I was unable to get it to latch due to the tension.
