Default orotection

I am on my fourth vette since 2005. Current is 16 Z96.
Never have had any of the paint protection coverings, and don't regret it.

Xpel on nose, rockers and lower doors up to the crease on bottom part of doors, rear brake vent area, full rear quarter panel (to protect rear fender flare).

Has worked very, very well.

19,000 miles, none on car except where GM put it. Yes I have a few small chips that you have to look real close to see, someday I'll touch them up.

I did the cQuartz myself some time ago now... a year plus. I got my hands on a bottle of cQuartz Finest and then watched too many videos and read too many forum posts to be confident in the application. I even did a write up here myself...

Hope this helps.

I had the Xpel done at the Xpel facility in San Antonio and it was just under 2k. Entire front bumper, halfway accross the front fenders and hood, rocker panels, mirrors and full rear fender. The ceramic coating was on special for 300 at a favorite shop of mine and seemed like a no brainer

900 bucks for what's in the video. I just recently applied opticoat glosscoat myself last week. These coatings really do change the appearance of the car. So glossy amazing. Much better than the opticoat 2.0 did on my black Sierra. That one works but the shine is not the same.

And if you want you can touch them up. I put Xpel on the nose of mine and in the first week got two rock chips in the film and down to the paint. No self healing here. I don't even remember getting hit with anything but there they were. But with the $700 worth of film on the car, I can't repair them without removing the film. Xpel installer (a high end detail shop) said he never saw that but couldn't do anything for me. Said he would contact Xpel are how to repair them but I never heard back from him. So I am just going to ignore them. And him. --Bob

Something decentirely sized must have hit my pass headlight cause there's two tiny nicks in it not through the film but they aren't self healing either. On the rest of my front bumper I see nothing. But believe me I am happy that the film on the headlight took the hit. Easily replaced (which I won't because it's fine, just noticed when wiping car down).

Without the film I am SURE it would have chipped the headlight right at the front facing edge hugest point of light. That would have drove me nuts.

Since you are in SoCal, I had mine done at Pro-Clear in Murrieta, CA. I did the complete front bumper, headlights, mirrors, lower rocker up the front of the rear brake ducts (main impact areas) $800 Expel Ultimate. They do a great job and have been around a long time. They are also mobile for a small fee.

Llumar Platinum full front, mirrors, rockers, full rear fenders. Relatively new product they have to compete with Xpel; carries a 10-yr warranty. Installer that I trust has it on his own car.

What shop did you use for your coating? Would you go back to them?
