Look guys , get rid of the metal or aluminum ramps and get a pair of race ramps. That is doing yourself a favor. No more lifting, heavy lifting, got 2 direct lifts 4 posts 9000. No problems!. Race ramps are a must.

I take mine off because i dont get my grand sport down very often and they hang in my way. They are heavy but have small wheels to assist moving them around if need be
Best thing to do with the ramps is take them off then simply flip them over and lay on top of each runway! See pic below

Any one have lift with picture of full size pick up or full size SUV under lift, Thanks Dave

Wilkey65, Thanks for info on rafters , I did have home builder stop by to verify that I could safely brace up rafters and it can be done.

Folks with ZO6 or GS when that car is under lift and on the ground how much room do you have between post ? Z06 , GS around 77 inches wide correct ? Thanks Dave

The car will sit just inside the posts on the front and rear end for the hd9xw.

Raise your ceiling as high a possible, every inch counts. This should start some interesting comments

I have the Bendpak HD9XW. My factory height Excursion will not fit under it. The lift does lift its 7900 lbs without a problem though when its on top.

How tall is the vehicle you are going to store under the Vette?

I have an Autolifters 4-post lift(no longer in business, but it is the same deign as the Backyard buddy and another lift(can't recall the name right now).. I have no problems putting my C6 Z06 on top, regarding clearing the cable pulley covers.

I have a 10'6" high ceiling and can raise the lift to it's top position(and have my 50" tall C2 on top. That gives me 63" of clearance underneath. My DD sedan in 54" tall, so no problem for me. If the vehicle is taller than 62", then you will need a lift with taller posts, that raises higher in the air(and more ceiling height needed). Depending on the design/manufacturer of the lift, you will find all different dims as to the height under the long ramps when the lift is fully raised. For example this lift will allow a vehicle up to 79" tall. http://www.gregsmithequipment.com/At...e-Pro-8000-EXT

My two lifts are standard width models and I have 90" between the posts. The mirrors on my car are ~83 inches on my C6 Z06. It's a little tighter when putting the Z06 on the top as the cables reduce the width available to ~88". I don't have to fold my mirrors in, just pay a little more attention.

My detachable approach ramps are steel and are 4 1/2" tall and 24" long and they weigh 20 pounds each. No problem for me to lift 20 pounds using both hands. LOL. I have no problem with the front splitter on my Z06 with them. They just slip into a slot and easy to remove. I remove mine when I have the lift up, so I don't walk into the ramps(learned the hard way, after about a dozen headaches).

Most stock sized 7000 lb or 9000 lb 4 posts won't raise high enough to get a Tahoe, Suburban, etc under them. Many do have options of taller posts that will do that if you have the ceiling space however.

I must have read distance between post wrong , cause some of you are fitting similar size vehicles under lift that I'm looking to fit under. Tomorrow I will remeasure and lay out lift on garage floor and see how things look.
