Z06 as a daily driver

Z06 as a daily driver
I am interested in 2015 or newer Z06 owners and there experience using the Z06 as a daily driver. Is it manageable? I currently have a 2006 Z06 I am trading for the C7 series. 650 HP seems unnecessary but a 2 yr old Z can be bought for similar money to a new GS. Would seem to me the Z will hold its value a bit better than a GS. Secondary question, does a standard Z ride as well and seem as quiet inside as a GS.

I'd swear I posted this already.
I got one of the first day Z06s and have been daily driving it ever since. It's a Z07 and it's lowered. I have winter tires for the winter and have driven hundreds of miles in real deal snow. There's about 40k miles on the car. The car is a perfect daily driver. I've commuted in and out of manhattan for years with it up until recently. You will get a better car and take less of a financial hit getting a used Z06 than a new GS. The only thing that made the car even better was the DSC V2 controller which softened up the blow from riding over poor roads and did a number of other amazing things but that's for another thread. People will tell you not to get the stage 3 aero. They are mostly people who don't have stage 3 aero and are wrong. My CF splitter is in perfect condition, rock chips aside, on my lowered car driven in the harshest possible conditions.
Welcome to the fold my friend.
Best,
Gene

I daily drive mine. Mine Z06 is a 2016 2LZ w/ Aero 2 and it is loads of fun every day.
Considerations.
1) Aero 2 or 3 the front splitter is far more fragile than the Aero 1 plastic splitter. If you are going Aero 2/3 get an 2LZ or 3LZ 2016+ car. The front parking cameras will make not hitting the splitter easy.
2) Tires. I would not consider the Sport Cup2 for daily driving due to wear and less than ideal wet performance. The standard Pilot SS are great but understand that they are 2K to replace and they wear out tons quicker than a normal car tire. Also if you live in a cold climate you will need winter tires.
3) Oil changes. Every 5K so 2 to 3 times a year. 10 quarts of Mobil 1 is not cheap. $100+ oil changes. (You could change yourself to save a couple $.)
3) People are a-holes. Good chance someone will mess with your car or door ding it in a parking lot because they just don't care. I had mine a month and someone smashed gum into my door. I cleaned it up. You can't sweat things like that and daily drive.
4) Rock chips. Gonna get them but it is a car. Have fun and again.... don't sweat it.
Overall I could not imagine having a Z06 in the garage and driving something else.

Tires and alignment
Thanks for the comments. I wore out the tires on my 2006 Z06 in 12,000 miles and then found that I could have the cast and camber adjusted similar to a normal car and my new tires are still like new after 14k miles. I also got away from the run flats and have been berry happy with the ride, traction and sound reduction. I am not racing it but do drive aggressive at times. Mostly I am not really capable of driving the z to its capacity and don't think I will change for a new Z. Does anyone know if I will want to change the alignment for better tire wear on the newer Z and does anyone have experience with regular run flat tires on a Z, if they can be bought.

I dd mine. It's a 2016 with over 37K miles on it. I absolutely love it. I can't even imagin leaving it at home and driving something else. That's a tragedy.

I had a 2007 Z06, so no mag ride, very close to your 2006. I could NOT daily drive that car. Too rough around the edges, not comfortable enough, etc... Pass me a tissue so I can dab my tears at that memory. No, I mean of course you COULD daily drive it, but I wouldn't.
You can daily drive a C7 no problem. Mine's an A8 convertible so entry and egress is very easy too, but applies to a coupe as well I imagine. They're a much better "car" than the old Z was.
All that said, and I do drive mine everywhere every day that the weather is decent, they're not a great foul weather car (too much power) and they are a little low to get in and out of if you're not a spring chicken.

Especially with the auto, the Z06 drives exactly like a normal car any time you want it to. It is no different on the street than a Honda Accord. And, it is comfortable on long trips. My wife and I have done 3 long (week+) 3,000 mile road trips with ours and it is a great touring car as well. Our other car is a Mercedes E class, so we are used to plush.
I previously had an 06Z and an 02Z and the C7 is far more comfortable and user friendly as long as you respect the power. It is really 2 cars in one.
The only weakness is the tires in heavy rain. They are not good for much over 65 under those conditions, and that applies to the MPSS as well as the Cups.

I was going to use mine as a daily driver Z06/Z07, it just wasn't big enough to do what I needed to do on a daily basis, replaced It with a challenger hellcat and drive the vette on the weekends and so on

Go for it
WCS, I have had a Corvette daily driver for the last 14 years...well, atleast 6-8 months out of the year. I do not drive it in the winter.
As for the Z06, I have a 2016 Convertible Z06 and I drive it every day to and from work, errands, dates, etc. from April Through November and I love it. Each Summer I make a few 5-6 hour road trips and even went back east to Maine (from Chicago) last Summer with my daughter, including an 18 hour straight-through drive back. I can say it is VERY comfortable. Surprisingly so, given the performance capabilities of this car.
The only thing I would caution, is don't screw around below 50 (40 for sure) or in rainy conditions. After a few squirrelly incidents, I'm cautious. If its raining or chilly in the morning, I put it in "Weather" mode...and it takes care of the rest.

DD here, car is super comfortable.
Coming from a Mercedes as my previous DD
I do have to figure something out for the winter. Despite snow tires being available, I am not putting them on because I don't trust other people
