Default Attack Blue vs BMS

Hello everyone. First post here... I recently took delivery of a new 2017 Z06 M7. I and am thinking of replacing the stock filter with the Attack Blue or BMS as soon as I can get 500 miles racked up. I am also considering adding a ported TB and Borla X-Pipe at some point in the future.

I've done some searching here and haven't had much luck finding a comparison between the Attack Blue and the new BMS filter. I'm planning to stay with the stock tune so AF ratio safety is a big concern.

I do not want the green (oiled) filter and the CAI setups scare me with being too lean without a tune and tossing codes on the 2017. Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can offer!

Already a nice thread on our drop in filter here: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...d-r-and-d.html

On stock 2017 tuning so far we've not had any reports of AFR getting out of check or faults being triggered.

Thank you and I have reviewed that thread. It does seem the BMS filter will lean the car a bit, which seems to be a safe amount, and add more air flow.

I was hoping to hear from someone who has used the attack blue to give me some comparison to the BMS. If I nobody has then perhaps someone with a 2017 Z06 who has used the BMS with ported TB and X-pipe with a wideband would be very helpful. I suppose if nobody has done it perhaps I'll have to pick one of the filters up and wideband it myself with the TB and X-pipe. I'll be sure to report my findings.

Vegas,

Not many people use, or at least talk about, the Attack Blue and the BMS is very new on the scene so you're not going to find the comparison that you're looking for. I'm running the mods you're hoping to do, albeit on a 2015, and am very pleased with the results.

All the best,
Gene

I have tried the 'Green' filter. Most if not everyone would think it was a 'dry' filter by feeling & looking at it, I did. As for oil contaminating the MAF sensor from my experience you need not worry about that.

Lingenfelter uses the 'Green' on their 720 & 750 Hp packages.

Gene,

Thank you so much for the info. So you have the BMS + ported TB + X-Pipe on a stock tune? Have you been able to wideband it on your 2015?

C7/Z06 Man,

I wasn't aware the green was very lightly oiled. Perhaps my concerns over the oil was not justified. I'll circle back around and compare the green vs BMS since it seems I can't find any info on the attack blue.

Keep in mind on the oiled filters oil MAF contamination is one issue, another factor is filtration quality especially as time passes and the oil dries out. There is also a significant difference between different brands of dry filter materials. We use S&B for all of our filters.

I 'think' but really not sure and if the member that posted it sees this maybe he will post up or anyone else that took note. I think I saw a post that a member recorded both the BMS and the Green filter and actually got a better reading/result with the green.

EDIT: I would really like to see some comparative (back to back) track results between the various replacement filters.

I have the Mamo ported TB, Borla X pipe and AFE Dry filter (OEM replacement), on a 2015 manual Z06. Car runs great! No codes.

That's great news. I am curious though if you have checked the AF ratio with a wideband? That is really the missing piece of info that I am hoping to find.

Just the AFE filter into the stock airbox or the whole AFE intake?

About 100 of our drop in filters now and nothing but great feedback. Works about as well as an intake system in a stealthy $90 package.

I am running the BMS + Mamo TB on my 2017 M7 Z06. No issues so far with about 500 miles since the installation. I've done several pulls to the top of 4th with no codes.

The AFE dry filter made for the stock airbox.

Terry, Does BMS have a filter to replace the AFE element?

if you want improved performance you need to tune for the increased air flow. That's why all well known performance shops have staged kits with bolt ons that include a tune for those bolt ons.

Interested in any comparisons as well.

If Attack Blue (AB) is > Green > OEM, and BMS is > Green, then where does AB fall?

The BMS disposable dry filter (S&B media) seems very good, however, I like the AB cleanable/reusable dry filter (Nanofiber media).

I know several who switched from Green to AB but wonder if anyone went from AB to BMS. Price is similar, and not a factor regardless (AB is a little more).

Maybe I'll just buy both and provide feedback.

I think at that point, dry is dry so no benefit can be made going from BMS to AB or vice versa.

It's going from green to BMS/AB or vice versa. Because its oiled vs dry.

I'm trying to sell my green filter because i'm getting a dry filter.
