You know what would be an awesome feature on this forum? A way for the OP to block replies from people that are distracting from the topic. That would be cool.

My bad. It's just irritating to see someone who wasn't contributing and decided to keep posting the same thing over again.

On topic:
I would go for it and pick up the ZL1 1LE and wait a year or two after the ZR1 is out to pick one up. That way if there's any teething issues, they'll be taken care of and/or you will probably be able to pick one up at a cheaper price.

Based on what he said I think there is a good chance the Camaro would win using the autos to at least 150mph. Aero drag is big here, but, so is the gearing. Check it!

Longtime Camaro and Vette owner. With the Camaro ZL1 as with the Hellcat you are getting a rent a car base product. You can put lipstick on a pig but it's still a porker. Although it may look like a silk purse. If it's worth it too you, go for it. I'll stick with the Vette . I test drove an SS yesterday. Most impressed with the Cadillac ride and stiff chassis, we know why. The dealer showed me a Zl1 in the back that wasn't prepped yet. A filthy mess, I might add. With a sticker of almost 70k.....no way!

I saw this thread over on Camaro6 and it sure sounds like those that have ridden in both cars notice a definite lack of acceleration in the Camaro compared to the Corvette.

Default Again!

Based on those VIDS even if the Vette is in anyway lacking now it won't be for long. This summers festivities are looking epic!

Ok so my non turbo Porsche 4s was 30k more than your vette. Do you still believe in your last sentence?

Default That's the problem!

Others have said this! The Vette's getting too expensive. Its platform is pricing it out of the competition. Its been unfinished for some!

http://money.cnn.com/2009/06/01/news.../gm_bankruptcy

Lessons learned! The ZR1 or top vette should be fully optioned and/or ordered! IE Straight line guys verses that nurburgring cruiser. (The CC brakes!) Limp mode works great!

Purpose Built - Cost Effective!

Poor-sha,

One of the reasons I posted the link to the Alpha platform earlier in this thread is because it will be interesting to me how this unibody platform designed for very low weight for a passenger car will hold up under heavy track use. Drivers like you will be a good test to see how robust it is over time when run hard on a track with stiff suspension and tires. The C7 frame is a thing of beauty and the although the Alpha design is great I wonder how it will hold up when used with a package that is far different than the ATS where it originally appeared.

I debated the 1LE and the Z before I purchased my 2017 Z in May. If I hobby raced road courses, I might have been swayed to the 1LE. But , I'm a hobby drag racer and just could not get past the 400 lbs weight penalty. That is significant. Tadge and his group were embarrassed by the Camaro engineering group. The Camaro engineers overdesigned for enthusiasts. Tadge slightly under designed , then tacked on a few bandaids instead of engineering proper solutions.

Z is a beast in the quarter...10.58 at 133.xx for me with PTB and green filter... don't see the ZL1 any where close.

Pretty easy to see who tracks their car and who just likes having a name plate based on the responses.

Someone in another sub near me has a white one identical to the pics and it looks fantastic.

We have seriously considered one after driving an ATS-V. The ATS felt great and the Camaro has some improvements and development that I'm sure will make their way down to the ATS.

Thank you for the direct comparison too in times. I've always said that the only real difference in 85 percent of drivers between the two are the tires. Put MPSS's on both the Stingray and the Camaro SS, or a 1LE and they would be way closer than most suspect, much to the disappointment to the crowd who talk bad about the Camaro while watching the wax dry on their Corvette in the garage.

Interior quality my only ding against it was the lower center console, hard shiny plastic but the rest is pretty damned good for the price.
