Weight, seating position, smaller interior, lower ride height, etc...all make the car feel faster/slower.

I owned a 15 z/28 great car but terrible visibility and size. I considered the 1LE but the terrible visibility and weight just can't be engineered out.

i bought a 17 z06/z07 in April. 6 weeks of bliss minus the 500mi break in. So 1 week of bliss lol!

Default My old 15 z/28

Well I guess since I am not the 1st camaro posted on the c7 z06 page.
it was a nice car but my 17 z06/z07 is far superior car compared to a z/28

The 17' z06/z07 is still a superior car compared to the zl1 1LE but by a smaller margin IMHO

The 2016 A8 Z06 I bought was a big step down for me.

I custom ordered and received a 2016 911 Turbo S back in July 2015....and then added to that, a 2016 Z06 in April 2016, that I had to wait 3 months to get, at MSRP.

The Turbo S does everything notably better than the Z...and is far quicker as well. A few more simple mods brought it up to 700 HP, so now my Z can't touch it at any speed.

But I enjoy driving my Z as much as my Turbo S and I do pretty much equal time in both. The Z isn't nearly as comfortable as my Turbo S; it's not as quick, doesn't shift even close to a PDK, doesn't ride or handle nearly as well in the streets, and bends its cheap-*** wheels just looking at potholes - but I still love driving it and I get excited to drive it each time I decide that's what I'm taking out of my garage on that day. And it's a gorgeous looking piece of machinery.

I have a Demon coming as well...which certainly is no Z or Turbo S...but I'm pretty sure, is a blast to drive and will make a fantastic DD for me. A family-style, comfortable 4-seater that I can stick my wife and kids into for a drive, that will blast pretty much anything around into oblivion with a simple mash of the throttle. Sounds like 1970 to me!

It never ceases to amaze me how some of the people on these boards think their car is the only car around. What a ******* joke.

The Camaro, at 20K less than a Z, will also finish a race around the track, while the Z sits around puking its guts out after a few laps, from overheating...

@ The OP...I say do it and enjoy the living **** out of it...you only live once! I wouldn't have expected anything less than some of the negative feedback from members around here who have no clue about life, cars or anything else.

So, only people who track their cars are "worthy" of responding in this thread? Give me a break.

The ZO6 needs that A10, I guess!

OP,

Never met you, probably never will but after reading what you are thinking about doing and why?

Simply stated: stop hesitating to pull the trigger on the decision. Go experience a different ride around your favorite tracks. It's all about learning new things, new lines to take with a different chassis, etc.

Go, just go do it! It's not about anything other than the experience!

Why not wait for the new Vette's!?
I think that's what he's doing, but, he's just frustrated waiting!

Sean, selfishly I say to do it. Us track guys would all love to hear the comparison of the two cars. You are a great driver and give feedback that would make the very best crew chief giddy!

But, I would have to agree with Bill and a few others that it would be costly. As I remember us 2015 owners have a 6 year 100k warranty or am I wrong?

I am interested in what you get on a trade in or out right sale? Tracking a car and letting the public know as you have over the years makes me curious how it effects the cars resale value.

Either way the final decision is yours

Love the performance of the ZL1 1LE ..but the c7 z06 is quicker...on the track...

And sexier on the street plus the roof comes off for open air motoring...

Congrats to the original poster for trying something new. How much did you get for a trade in for your c7 z06?

Cool post, we can meet up some time to talk about how cool your cars are and your opinions and stuff. I'll show you my new Lamborghini because I know you know a lot about cars and I want to learn.

I would say go for it ! and I'll add to hold to it until the Zora , while the c7 z06 is an amazing car for its price point , it's not without its flaws, in stock form , traction is not that great, pulls timing for a yes or no, supercharger gets hot quite fast and performance degrades, and lastly I find it's too end to be a little weak 100+ , although the low end torque is incredible.

The ZL1 has proper cooling a much much better transmission , also the chassy puts down the power ALOT better , I hear it handles even more power with no traction issues , I have a 2ss , and oddly enough , even though it's not nearly as fast as my Z , I find the chassy a lot more solid / refined

IMHO the corvette to have would be the zora , by that time i think the engineers will have all the bugs sorted out , in the meantime I'll add maybe you could lease a zl1 , according to the gm calc its only 750 a month and 6k down , you could prob negotiate way better and turn it in without taking a huge depreciation hit
