I just love the threads about guys who are considering a move from a Porsche whatever to a Z06 or GS. If ya want a snob mobile to impress the boys at the country club keep your damn Porsche. If you are looking for something that will rip the ***** of your Boxster, Cayman, 911, 911S,etc at 1/2 the price of entrance and 1/5 the maintenance cost then get the Z06.
Just don't go around the track more than a few times.

Have them all. They are all, different but shine in their own way. The p-car is more refined in the upper models but the C7 has closed the gap a bit. It's still not at 911turbo level of refinement however is nice. My copy of the Z06 is a rare one at 1 of 20 which was an attraction but I also wanted a rag top since I've had the itch for a couple,of,years. I really like driving the C7 especially after attending Ron Fellows and now knowing how to handle that particular beast.

I was in the almost same boat, Sold my M7 stingray and was looking at the 2016 Cayman GTS.

Drove the Cayman GTS and guess what? I liked the stingray much more, the Porsche was much slower than the Stingray, much more noisy, felt heavier, and really cramped in the interior, less comfy.

Now, I decided to get back to the Corvette (Yes, Its that good), Im looking to upgrade to a C7 Z06 now.

I have owned a 2010 911 S with PDK trans, nice ride with great Transmission, the Z06 in my opinion is far superior in performance. Now the Turbo S may be another story but very $$$$.

Both were great, although I only tracked the GT3. The latter was my dream car and, well, I scratched that itch. It is such a visceral machine. But many downsides that the C7Z addresses; namely comfort, power, grip, technology... and most of all, FUN. After owning German cars for years, it's obvious the "cold" personality of that culture translates into their machines. Usually well built, but almost always moderated by some sorts. This Corvette seems more designed for the driver and not some car culture lore it needs to feed. Porsches are great, but are incredibly overpriced and overhyped. Only subjective measures; looks, posh factor... remain after all objective measures are considered. Anyways, happy to now be on this side of the fence! Looking forward to my first track day in it soon.
Congratulations and enjoy. Off topic but how did you change your login?

PDK makes the Corvette A8 feel like garbage. But I traded my 2010 997TT Cab on a 2016 AMG GT-S which makes the PDK feel like garbage.

I had a 2017 911 Carrera 4s. The car was INCREDIBLE. It was comfortable, luxurious, fun to drive. That engine sound was to die for and I still miss that warble they program in when its revving down RPMs.. Wish our v8 had that.. And yet I still sold it for a Z07 package 3lz Z06. And all I can say is they are completely different but if I had to have one I obviously pick the z06.

Porsche Build quality is insanely good. TOO good. It makes the z06 seem rather on the cheaper side. But the porsche felt too nice.. if thats a thing. too boing to drive, no excitement. Just too mechanical and perfect.

My z06 on the other hand is a complete monster that will RIP YOUR FACE OFF. The thing still scares the hell out of me but I can't stop wanting to drive it. Its engine sound is mean and aggressive, its a drivers car. While mine with the 3lz does have all the carbon fiber and suede. Its nothing like a porsche. And thats what I wanted a super car that is scary fast. While the 911 is more of a daily driver I still feel comfortable driving my z07 as my daily driver. Its a dream to drive just like the 911 but it has so much power and ***** the thing is a track car we get the privilege to drive on the street as well. Heres a solution... BUY BOTH. BUT if you can only have one get the VETTE!

Buy both is right and the summary is pretty accurate in previous post. Different but the same. Build quality is vastly improved over previous gen corvettes having driven all of them and although much better there is still room for improvement as with most things. On my p-cars, the quality, fit and finish is unmatched in any of the current production cars that I know, have owned or currently have in the stable. Naturally there are exceptions. All that said, I love my ZO6 because it is extremely rare being only one of twenty made according to the NCM and GM numbers but also because it's a great car and great bargain compared to most anything else.

Love the wrap. What's the background on that? Did you fly with VX-9? What part of the world does the Z prowl?

I would say trade up, unless you have a 991 Turbo like I do, then it's a sin.

Both are great cars.

The GT3 has been my dream car as well. I hope to scratch that itch one day!
