Default Does Dewitt's Radiator make a difference

Does upgrading to a Dewitt's radiator help the z run cooler in spirited acceleration runs like drag racing?

The factory radiator is more than adequate for drag racing. Zero gains to be had.

What do you base this on? Did you try one?

The product has a five star rating with nothing but positive reviews. We have sold over three hundred units to date and the large majority of customers are very happy with the results. Sometimes people will read one thread and draw a conclusion. We use a much larger sample size and feedback from dozens of customers.

It works well, in az we do see a drop in coolant temps about 10-12 just cruising. Our customers that road race it helps them out immensely as it keeps the temps from creeping up. This time of year we do a lot of radiators as our average is 107 now lmao!

Yes, I tried one. I tried the one that came in my car. I made no claims about YOUR rad, which I'd imagine is beyond adequate. Yours is also likely better than the factory rad for road racing or more demanding applications, but the question was about drag racing.

All I said was that the factory rad is adequate for drag racing. It is. In environments and applications where the factory rad isn't up to the task, then I'm sure yours is a fine choice.

Dave, if I recall correctly, there was a recent thread from a poster who complained about his C7Z pulling power after several drag runs. Considering the slower climb in temps that a Dewitts provides, there might be some benefit here to OP. No, I have no hard data to post here ...

I agree. The DeWitts Radiator is a good product that provides added cooling capacity. However, added radiator cooling capacity isn't needed for drag racing as the engine isn't run long enough to get close to overheating.

I can only speak to my own experience where, when running hot laps in reasonable air (mid 70s I guess) my car had returned to mid 190s by the time I got back to the staging lanes each time.

If you have a car or setup where you're NOT able to get your car to return to thermostat-controlled temp ranges, then that's a different case, one I can't speak to. Others maybe can!

There is minimal power derating from coolant temp. There is HUGE power derating, on the order of 10:1, from blower cooling and a proper intercooler bleed.

TLR- Bleed the blower religiously if you drag race it.

As for the DeWitts piece, its good stuff. We use their largest radiators in all of our cooling systems with enough data to back up the pentagon.
