Default M7 - Getting the best 0-60

Just curious, in order to achieve the best 0-60 time in the M7, is there any benefit in shifting to 2nd? I used launch control and was only able to get 3.8 using 1st gear. Never had time to try again but it seems a shift would only slow it down.

Shift will slow you down. It'll do 65 mph in first gear.

That's what I was thinking. I guess my slowish time shouldn't be too big a surprise given the oxygen starved high altitude and crappy 91 octane here.

Think of how fast these cars are--especially compared to 25 years ago--when 0-60 in 3.8 seconds is a disappointment.

Are you spinning at all?

Recommend finding the darkest asphalt you can find.
Turn traction control off. Open the exhaust by going sport or track mode. Stay in 1st.
Don't use launch control but try to mimic what launch control does.
Although you may have to use a lower launch rpm to keep traction.

After you play with it a while you will figure out what gives you the best result. However by that time the car will be fairly warm. So after allowing for a cool down and the temps stabilize go back and use the technique that gave you the best result during your " testing". Or go back the next day.

This first run with the best proven technique will give you the best result.
