Perhaps the C7 has peaked?
My buddy said he is waiting to see the "mid-engine" c8. He doesn't want to be making payments on a c7. He said the c7, is "old", and has peaked, that's why no one is buying them. He also said all the corvette loyalist own one now. We discussed that if the next vette is mid-engine, there will a massive crossover from Porsche, and other sports car enthusiasts, and he will be one of the first in line for a mid-engine c8. Has the c7 peaked and are you waiting to get a mid-engine C8? I for one will wait a few years to see how the new mid-engine c8 performs over time. Perhaps they will offer big discounts on them after 3 years of being on the market. My buddy doesn't think so. He believes the crossover will be so massive that they will sell every c8 they make at MSRP.

I think you should stop getting wrapped up in what your buddy thinks. You'll enjoy your car a lot more.

Having friends and validating and valuing their opinions is one of the keys to a happy life. My buddy owns a 2010 Porsche and although I'm done with Porsche I respect his love of Porsche. I am enjoying every moment with my ZO6, but part of that joy is sharing it with family and friends. Cars are just things, having friends and family that enjoy your interest is priceless. The question remains has the c7 peaked?

He has driven a zo6, he has driven mine and loves it, he has no problem with the c7z, he just thinks it's peaked that's why it's not selling. His Porsche is payed off and will be using it as a down payment on the new mid-engine C8! Some people skip a generation of a certain car, there are people still paying off their C6. They will not be buying a c7, but will be buying a c8! The question still remains has the c7 peaked? Are people just waiting for the mid-engine c8?

they are not selling because gm has raised the price of the car that now it is almost out of the reach of its market that has been buying them since 1953,the common man.as market shrinks,gm still has to mass produce them to make money and they will pile up.simple supply and demand.as older people who have been buying them get to old to want them or drive them, they pile up.you will see sales shrink as the price goes up until they will drop the corvette line like Pontiac.sooner or later everybody that wants or wanted a vette will have 1,new or used, because there are 10s of thousands of low and no mileage ones sitting around in garages and dealers.the plain truth.dont get me wrong,i love my Z,its the best vette I have ever had,but the reality is it will most likely be my last since I am 64 retired and the last 90k car I will ever buy.it almost broke the bank to get this 1 and I am glad I did.bought my first used 62 vette when I was 18 for $200.bought my second used 67 vert when I was 19 for $1900,bought my used 68 vet 2 top big block for 6k.bought my first new vet 1978 for 10k bought my new 84 vette for 22k in 84,bought new 85 vette in 85 for 27k,bought new 2012 GS for 71 in 2012 and bought last Z new in 2016 for 90K.just showing you my point.

Most cars reach a point when it's produced for the general public-supply out weighs demand. I believe because of the price point of the C7 Z its caught up and may be nearing a "peak". All manufacturers prepare for this with new models like the Grand Sport, ZR1..etc. A mid engine vette may be another game changer like the C7 Z. The C7 Z attracted so many cross over buyers including me because of its radical departure and amazing performance. This is a great car and it should be owned by any sports car enthusiast.

Like most new car releases I'm sure it "peaked" about 4-6 months after its introduction. By then the press coverage had started to fade away and other things had come along to talk about.
All of which has absolutely nothing to do with the car itself, it's attributes, abilities, or performance.
If you're worried about impressing your buddy, you'll have to buy a steady stream of just-released, gotta-have-it, latest and greatest cars. And impressing buddies is generally a terrible reason to drop $100,000 on anything.
Ask your buddy why he cares? Why is he invested in hoping the car has peaked, is he going to buy one?

well proven aka "peaked" when it's my money i'll leave the unpaid beta tester role to more well-heeled folks than i. i like well proven, i like it alot.
i've followed mid engines since the Fiat x1/9 was brand new. Be it Fiat, Ferrari, Toyota mr2, GM/Pontiac Fiero, Porsche, Ford GT or Lincoln/Mercury Pantera; it doesn't end well for the guy with the wallet.

Glad you were able to get a C7z, it's s awesome car, no matter what price you paid, it's awesome. I've had the priveledge to own and drive some great cars. This one is my favorite, it's just visceral. I owned a Maserati Granturismo, which the vette reminds me of. The ZO6 is much more rewarding, although harder to egress from! Lol!! I've driven a GTR, lambo, and various AMG cars, I trolled this forum for over a year as a non-member, before deciding on getting a ZO6, I got $14,000 of on my purchase! That was what made me finally pull the trigger on it. The ZO6 community has a special car. I had no interest whatsoever in a regular C7. It had to be the ZO6 or nothing. I do believe it's reached it's peak. The bugs have been sorted out, although some have overheating issues(very few). I will be tracking my car a few times a year, so I'll know more about that when I do. I can't wait till Carlisle in August, so my wife and I can share our ZO6 with our new community of friends. Peaked or not it's just awesome to drive it and my buddy agrees, but he can't wait to see the c8, mid-engine. I'm more curious about it then waiting for it. Until it's here I'll enjoy every moment with my z.

thanks for the well wishes! I'll report back to the forum if I have any issues. I'm not that aggressive on the track, so I'm not anticipating any issues, all my track time has been in porsches, this will be my first time in something other then a Porsche on track. I've driven a lot of great cars, you should grab a groupon and next time one of those deals where u can do a lap in a Lamborghini, GTR and some other cars, you can have the experience as well. I have a couple of buddies with high end cars, but they haven't allowed me to drive them on the track, with the exception of my brother in law who owns a 2010 GT3, I've thrashed that car, its probably one of the best track cars out there, at least that's my 2 cents.

If it peaked then it peaked just in time for me since I got mine 3 weeks ago and I plan on keeping it for as long as I can drive! No mid engine Corvette for me.
