Mods needed to drag race a Porsche 911 S ?
A stock 911S will kill a stock ZO6 in a drag race. AWD > RWD. So drag radials are a must to Launch. Even though they weigh about the same and the 911 is rated at 580Hp, the turbo torque/hp curve has more acceleration. What would you add to the ZO6 to get another 60-75 rwhp to get the advantage ?

According to Car and Driver's instrumented testing, the Porsche is slower in every regard. AWD does make the Porsche idiot proof which does explain some of the folks I see driving them. $191K is also sobering for some. I think C/D nailed it on their rankings.

I know ZO6 'S at sea level tracks have gone quicker and faster, but on the same track C&D went 10.6 at 130mph in the Turbo S and 11.1 at 127 in an automatic ZO6 . I think DR's , air filter, tune and cat deletes should put the Z on top.

There's nothing like a motor sitting on top of your drive wheels for traction let alone AWD system that's close to the Acura system. The Z06 will need more than HP...at least at the start. Maybe later down the 1/4 it can power it's way back but that has to be allot of power.

They don't rank cars by performance...

It's comical the comments by some on how these two cars match up in a 1/4 mile race... Obviously an AWD system will allow a great launch, but that's short lived. I've seen many Talon TSi, EVo and Subbies crush cars .... For the first 60 feet, then the hammer drops.

Agreed. But if we're cross-shopping cars that cost $115K more than what I paid for my 3LZ, then sanity went out the window within the first post. So what we're saying is that a $190K car, before options, is better than a $75K car. OK......the point? I believe this would hold true for boats, houses, wives.........

Yes indeed, right with you there. Although the 911 has improved profoundly in the looks department it still just smacks Punch Buggy and a Punch Buggy with an insane price tag.

I have encountered several at the drags. They lay down good 60' times, but will not hang with the Z afterward. They only time I lost to one was when I hazed the tires from a poor burnout. They included 991 turbos both S and non S.

I have run into 3 Turbo P-cars since owning my Z06. Unfortunately 2 where at a light from a stand still. My M7 didn't stand a chance they both put 2+ cars on me from word go. I did close some by the time we knocked off. PDK, 4 wheel drive and his gearing advantage was just to much for me to overcome.
The 3rd was at about 85 mph on the freeway. Totally different outcome. I am stage 1 by the way.
Nobody wins them all, all of the time.

Agreed. 4 wheels digging in from a start can trump 2 almost anytime when talking about even remotely close performing cars.

On the same track, stock vs stock, 10.6 at 130 > 11.1 at 127. More mph and quicker. Not comparing value, looks, design, colors, just straight line performance from a stop and the mods needed to get the advantage. Dr's , tune and some bolt ons should get it done.
