We can only hope.
Thanx for the video.
Regarding the driver...
His shifting could use some work, but he drove like a big boy and showed little fear and that's about all you can hope for in a test like this.
THAT is a crazy time...WOW!

That Performante laptime is factory time tho.
I'm curious when Sport Auto puts their hands on one...

Amazing silence from the haters and trolls who preached about the C7 Z06 not being able to post a respectable time. This outstanding time is a good, hard, slap across the face to this gang.

It's a relative test though. Comparing SportAuto to manufacturer numbers is like comparing a dynojet in 50 degree weather at sea level to a Mustang Dyno in Denver.
Ultimate capability is one thing, as shown by professional manufacturer drivers backed by tons of channels of data and support. Put the car in the hands of a common man though, and it reveals how accessible a cars performance is. Getting some cars from 8/10's to 10/10's requires abundance of skill and ability, versus some cars bring you to 9/10's with a lot of confidence.
I think the SportAuto times reveal that the 918's performance is harder to access as a common driving enthusiast, especially when you have the responsibility of bringing the car home. Sport Auto is more real world, when it comes to common ownership and real life outcome. In that scenario, the Z06 is top tier.

Yeah. That and so many are on another level both in price and performance. I wouldn't mind paying but you would want it back to justify the expense unless it was a solid investment grade car.
back to the topic at hand, if i recall didn't they crash pretty bad and wasn't it in winter when they were there towards end? As well as another bad crash when nurburgring outlawed times for a bit?
or like someone said whenever they had the chance other vehicles etc caused issues on track

That is cool...
as for nobody cares about the ring time? I don't think 99% of us do care but what we did care about was everybody running their mouth over and over again about how couldn't make it around the stupid track like the car was going to overheat in 7 minutes I mean come on? Just glad this is put to rest

Pretty Cool, almost seemed like he was not pushing as hard as he could have in the last few minutes...
I like the way he double down shifted a few times!
The thing I've noticed about my Z06 and tracking it is how much easier it is to run a reasonably fast time vs driving my other vettes, that I have run similar times in, but REALLY had to work at it...
Good Job!!

Love that this was released! Fantastic driver that, IMO, given the same amount of time and prep as a factory diver, could wrangle a few more seconds out of her. He didn't NLS, double downshifted in spots, coasted in a few others, but his line is solid and he really didn't show to be timid and afraid of pushing from 8-10/10ths.
I love my M7! And as my buddy said "only the manual times matter! There's three pedals, that's 50% better. It's just math"

Sweet redemption, although many forum members have had steller times at other tracks around the country. But let's face it the Nurburgring is one of the world's most diverse tracks that will expose any weakness in car and driver.

Ah, this is great to see.
Solid, solid time for the C7 Z06.

This is definitely a sub 7:10 car in GM's hands in my opinion.
Also I like that we get a lap time that not from GM, but is still very respectable and people are still trying to discredit it.
