Was at the local dealer today to replace the wife’s car. While there I asked for their latest catalog on the Corvette. They now have printed for the 2018 ZO6 that for extended track use get the M7

Default Daily Driver

As much as I would love to, I’m not a track guy. This girl will be my daily driver.

After replacing my 16 A8 Z06 with a 17 I took it to Laguna Seca for its first track day with about 6,000 miles on the car. Same temps as the 16. Unfortunately a value spring broke, flattened the lifter roller, cam and sent metal throughout the engine. Also the #1 cylinder had scoring. Awaiting a new engine. Hopefully it will not take too long to arrive. Needless to say very disappointed. While the engine is out I plan to put in a Dewitt radiator to hopefully reduce temps.

The DeWitt's radiator is a top notch unit. I also installed their EOC and better SC heat exchanger. It will still go into limp mode when driven very hard. At my last outing I found a comfortable limit to run the car at and finished at 242 degrees water and 267 oil. It is much better in daily driving, especially cold/cool temps. If you have to go " ***** to the wall 100% " on track the units that have modded front bumper cover and additional coolers and plumbing will be required. At this point in time I have only witnessed that once, but it sure was awesome. He not only didn't overheat, he ran his a/c all day. Everyone there was VERY envious. It was approx. 104 degrees and very little shade anywhere on property. LOL

No worries, you should be fine, esp with no tracking. All models have issues, but they don't affect all the cars.

I much appreciate this topic it's very helpful,
I have been driving my friends z06 on and off for about 2 months and I'll be picking up my new z06 by January according to GM,
i have to be honest I am 50/ 50 if I want the car, it seems like GM is doing that traditional American car building bulshit again by letting customers do the testing for there products.

differential issue at 300 miles ? And still not fixed.
trans issue 5000 miles and other MAJOR issues for a car that is 100k and only has 5k miles is absolutely unbelievable.

some of the guys in here are acting like ideots by hiding the facts about this cars major problems,
you can't run from the truth even if u warship ur c7.

go for it, tell me how stupid I am for saying the truth and I am a troll, that's ur only last defense anyway.

the good thing is if I decide to get the z06 and car gives me problems. Gm won't stand the chance with my lemon law lawyers here in Southern California.

my z06 is ordered with m7 and won't see race truck, just a weekend toy, this will be my first GM product, I hope car will be reliable.
So far I am enjoying the z06 I am driving.

Easy there...

This thread is for discussing issues no one is downplaying anything. They just aren't tearing it apart like you are. Yes there are issues, just as there are with any car. The idea is to know the issues, know how to get them fixed, etc. I for one, haven't had any of the major issues listed here and I know I'm not the only one so coming in here and acting like every single Z06 that exists is going to have all of these issues is just asinine.

I love my Z, hopefully this thread helps some get help with any issues they have big or small. Could GM have done things better like not rush the Z to production , that is another thread that's all ready been

2016 ZO7 M7.

The car eats a qt of oil every 500 to 700miles. Dealer will do an oil consumption test. At 5000 miles my engine blew up, The lifters, guides, valves, rockers etc were bent on my left side.

At 20,000 miles the My Link system crashed. It took a month for the parts to arrive at the dealer. It's working fine now.

Just one more for the list. My torque tube has been making noise for quite some time now. I'm also on my 2nd flexplate that was replaced for noise as well. My dealer says these parts have been on back order. I'll post back on this thread to see if they actually repair the problem.

Let's not feed any trolls. He's been talking about getting one albeit all the problems for two years now.

Sorry in advance if this is the wrong place to put this question. If you have a suggestion on where a better place to post this question might be please let me know. Any help is appreciated.

I am looking at buying a used 2015 Z06. I am aware of the overheat issue and the GM solution is to add a new radiator. I plan to make this change to fix it before I track the car.

My question relates to the warranty and extended warranty. My understanding is that GM will warranty the car even it is used on the track. Is this correct? Also, if you buy a GM extended warranty will the extended warranty still be good even if you use the car on the track?

Yes, track use is covered by warranty. Assume that also means the extended warranty.

On Friday my dealer told me that GM was balking on replacing the engine that failed as a result of a failed valve spring. The dealer said they were rejecting the warranty because I took the car to the track. This is BS and I will confirm this on Tuesday. Since GM did a buyback on my 16 because it overheated on track, I know the game and will work towards a buyback if GM rejects the warranty. In sole searching the Z06 for track use, it may be a better choice to buy a Grand Sport. While there is less power the reliability trade off may be worth it for those who want to track their cars. Also the dealer said they could not install a Dewitt radiator because it would void the warranty.

Larry, that is TOTAL BS!!! Engine is covered if it's been tracked. Not sure why the radiator voids the warranty as it alleviates the problem. Good luck and thx for the update!

The ZO6 is advertised as a track car. In fact I am about to haven the dealer flash new suspension settings from GM. They clearly say the settings are mostly for the track. They also say the car remains under warranty.
I am also flashing GM software to stop the computer from pulling back timing even on a hot day. It his also covered under warranty
GOOD Luck
