Thanks Dog Unfortunately I believed GM had made real changes to the 17 to allow some HPDE use with the A8. I was wrong. Just looking for some things to help that won't void my warranty.

What size wrap did you go with for the oil lines?

I have a couple of customers with 15 & 16 A8's that run very respectable track times with little to no issues. One recently I know of hasn't had any heat issues and manually shifts using the great torque curve GM gave all of us. He also has the DEI covers, rapped exhaust to the trans area and our fin kit. A little here and a little there and useing the curve can add up to a successful track day

If I was not tracking I would do nothing.

Installed DEI kit last year (Cat. and oil line wrap). City driving, oil temp in 190's, almost 200 on mid/high 90's summer day, 260 on track.

I personally went for 2 of the cat-shields and skipped the oil line sheath, but here is the kit:

http://www.jegs.com/p/DEI/DEI-C7-Cor...29128/10002/-1

I'm a bit apprehensive on the sheath, yes it shields the lines from radiant exhaust heat, but one of the two oil lines is the "cold" side so why wrap it with the "hot" line? I opted to get a cat-shield for each bank to keep the heat in the exhaust system where it belongs.

Our 15 Z06, M7 has never gone over 273 oil in over 90 temps running 9 to 10\10ths all WITHOUT the GM additional radiator! I'm happy

The heat shield we developed to for the C7 and C6 are now also available. They are pretty similar but have a silica inner layer and ceramic insulation instead of fiberglass for high temp resistance. The outer layer is basalt fabric (lava rock). These can also be installed lengthwise on smaller pipes to shield the transmission and diff from exhaust heat.

If you're in a state that allows, why not just run headers and delete cats altogether ? A lot less heat and small performance bump ?

You certainly can. But it's not a bad idea to put a heat shield on your header collector if it's close to the oil cooler or oil cooler adapter as well.

You can put two of them on the exhaust pipes near the transmission and diff, like the photo we posted. The same shield can be used by rotating it 90-degrees and rotating the clips to install it long ways on a smaller diameter exhaust pipe. It will cover 13" length of pipe.

My car is an automatic. I would be interested on covering both cats and both rear pipes by the trans. What do I need to order? Is the discount code in effect still
