Cat heat shield and oil line covers
Put these on yesterday in hopes of keeping some radiant heat off the oil cooler and dry sump lines. DEI kit from Jegs.

I haven't logged any before and after other than just monitoring it in digital touring mode. Normal interstate driving on 90 degree day with aero plate I would normally see 220 coolant temps and the same on oil temps. After the covers installed and I drove the same route same 90's out, it ran 204 coolant temps and 210 oil temps. Spirited driving on the interstate still raised all the temps, but within a couple miles of normal driving they came right back down.

Ordered this to cover the factory intake tubing. That thing gets so hot you can't even touch it! This I plan to log some before and after intake temps to see if it makes any difference.

I like that you covered the cat on the one side. I don't like that you covered the oil lines themselves. The ambient air around the oil lines should be cooler than 200 degrees. Thus, the problem is the other cat, near those oil lines, so i would think covering the cat and leaving the oil lines exposed is the way to go. Perhaps I'm wrong, but wanted to at least suggest.

Looks familiar OP, I agree not to rap the oil lines but instead rap that cat. I track my car and have used the DEI covers now for 2 years and put them on a few customers cars. I do believe they help as I have never gone over 273 oil on the track when over 90 degrees. We rap the exhaust pipes with the DEI titanium too. With the C4 Vettes GM had cat covers, must be they were to much for the C7!

OP yes we do rap the passenger side cats. This keep the heat off the starter, oil lines and pan. My covers may look a bit larger as we were involved with the development with DEI back in 2015.

We did something very similar as well. We are tweaking the sizing a bit to cover more of the cat as well, and making it shorter so the clamps tie around the cat. We are planning on including these in our upcoming oil cooler kits.

It looks as if yours doesn't have any air gap between the cat and the shield? The DEI version has little stainless stand offs built into it.

Yeah, you're absolutely right. This is the first prototype we had made but they made it completely the wrong size. Our actual specs were actually almost identical to the one DEI is making. But when we designed ours a month or two ago there was nothing available. They must have just released it.

I don't think your going to find any testing on these products. When it comes to mods like this it becomes more of a common sense decision. Lowering the radiant effect of heat should always help but at what level is the big question. I'm sold on the complete system after 2 solid years of track and street use.
