What truly impresses me about the Demon, is the marketing, the hype and pure capture of a sector of Murica using an old chassis and cashing in. To take a 10yr old design/car and have people rushing to the dealer to pay 30k over msrp; well over 100k for this thing....that's invoking pure emotion.
The folks at SRT/FCA/whoever....they really earned their paycheck on this one. They're going to have guys wrapping these cars in bubble wrap.
In my personal opinion, the majority of the world won't see the guy driving a Demon as anything different from the guy driving the buy here/pay here 2009 challenger on a set of wheels. A Z06 has presence and looks far more expensive to the random eye than it's msrp suggests. The fact people are paying more for a demon than a Z07....wow....just wow. Says a lot.
To each his own though...I guess. I already had a "hemi lover" friend of mine say that Corvettes are going to get eaten alive at track days by this car. I directed him to the hellcat VIR time vs the V6 1LE and he promptly countered that the Demon Challenger is a lightweight, and designed specifically for track duty. SO....with that I realized that...wow, these marketing folks really put in some work...get these fella's sold that this is a lightweight machine for world domination.

From my understanding Dodge will verify sale price, if its above MSRP the allocation will be "delayed" .. With MSRP models being produced first. So paying more, and waiting longer ... But of course there are a bunch of people who only deal with their local dealership and or don't shop. So people will get fleeced but dodge is doing their part to stop stupid.

I don't think it takes mad skills to pilot a Demon since it is an Auto only car. One driver to the other both shown how to work the car since it does have some tricks to make the best 60ft.will make little difference. One gets an 11.00 so will the next.

Scraping the splitter.
Just FYI, there are plenty of Demon allocation out there for MSRP +$10k and even those aren't selling and dealers may give up the allocation.
The claims of $30-40k markups is based largely on urban legend. There are a couple of eBay auctions for the right to order a car that are in the $10-15k range last I looked. And there are a great many buyers who locked in at MSRP.

will some guys run 9s stock!?? YEP! Will some guys run low 11s stock? YEP
You have obviously been down the track, the stat & bench racing is meaningless.
Yrs ago went to LACR (air & track prep not good), & posted the C5z that was running that night couldnt get into the 12s (driven fairly well) guys went bananas

Don't believe me? Look back at the thread, where Sam90LX upvotes every post critical of the Z or supportive of the Demon.
I fully expect the Demon is faster in the quarter than the Z, so I'm not even on this thread. But I find it weird that any opportunity for the C7Z to lose makes C6 guys so tingly in the happy place.
You'd -think- a C6 owner would have more affinity with another Corvette than with a Dodge, but any way to make the C7Z look bad for people that don't have one yet.
It'd be like if I was jealous of the new ZR1 so all I did was post about how the P100D is still faster. It'd look, as that guys says on Twitter, "Sad!".

Actually it's probably not that they're insecure about the Demon, it's more that C6 guys are the Demon's strongest proponent, because it's faster than the C7Z. That makes the C6 guys weirdly happy.

Could be. Although it appears the greatest insecurity in this thread is coming from a current C7 Z owner.

No - I'm not referring to you. I think you've probably got a pretty good idea what the Demon is all about and what it's intended to do.

Will all Space X Z06's and inferior cars operating in the 570nm range go for a long drive? Thanks!

Dude...HELLO...this IS corvetteforum.com
It is entirely acceptable for Corvette fanbois to wax poetic about the car.
Anyone who posts here and believes otherwise is a Troll and should be banned.

Well yeah but ... it's a forum and we should have some objectivity about other cars. The Z06 is not the best sports car in the world and it does have some faults. Likewise there are other cars that have their own merits and we should be gracious enough to admit it. The constant insults about anything that does not wear a Corvette badge is silly. We are all car fanatics and should appreciate all cars of this nature.

I completely agree.
However, attacking Vette fanboism is out of bounds.
This website is unusually lenient in this regard.
At many car sites, mods will boot guys off for such behavior.

This is about dealing with reality, not having to create your own reality to feel better about your Corvette. Reality will always rule. There's plenty of real facts about Corvettes to be proud of. Picking up a set of pom poms and saying things that are not true is silly and unnecessary. Being honest and real makes me a troll??? That's absurd.
