Default Dealer didn't get problem fix and charge me without noctice

Hi, everyone!

I have a 2017 C7 Z06. Yesterday, my car's check engine light is on state

that engine power reduced. I brought it to the dealer. They found out the

code. It about 'The map sensor malfunctioned one time at 158mph'.

I know there's a lot people having problems with the map sensor and get check engine light at 158mph.

Here the thing

While I brought the car to the dealer, they didn't even discuss the problem

with me, and do all the work by themselves. I know most of the dealer

will discuss the problem and see if what u think about.

So it ends up. They didn't do anything or fix my problem. They just reset

the ECU to clear the code. And then they charged me for $130.

If I knew they just going to reset the light and will charge me for $130.

I won't bring it to them.

So anyone has idea what I can do now.

They didn't get me noticed and discuss the problem before they reset the light.

They said I am not supposed to drive that fast. What's the purpose for? I am not buying a Corolla.

they said it's not covered by the warranty if I go that fast. So they need to

charge me. is that ture? My car is shock, I just put a coolant expansion

Tank on, that it.

Should not be a charge for that. Ask them where it is written in the owners manual to not exceed 158mph ?

Maybe they're trying to deny warranty coverage because of the aftermarket expansion tank?

If they're disputing this I'd 1) dispute the charge with the dealership and with GM, and 2) find another dealer ASAP. I would never have paid for unauthorized work, especially on a new car still under factory warranty. The dealer played you but you've also got to stand up for yourself in a situation like this.

ive worked for bmw for 10 years as a service adviser, they can not!!!! Charge you unless you signed an estimate or aproved it over the phone , and in that case they need to have it date and time stamped with the phone aproval, otherwise they cant do ****

Looks like they charged you for the diagnostics? Maybe a combo of that and 'labor' / shop time. Either way that is ridiculous, I'd speak with the shop manager on the issue or go above them if need be.

Thanks guys. Any idea how to fix the issue? I looked at the forums, seems like replacing the map sensor not really solve the issue.

Buy a $10 OBD II bluetooth scanner, download scanning app to your phone. Check the codes as they pop, if its ascertained to be just that specific code, just clear it on your own. As far as a fix, I'm not sure my car hasn't thrown such a code for over 158+ ...

Does that code come on because of the tires are rated for 155 mph or something? Other cars I've had did the fuel cut off 155 until 130 or so then the car comes back on.

Everything they said is incorrect and complete BS. I would definitely escalate the matter up the GM chain.

FWIW, I use the below to scan and clear codes. Very user friendly and cheaper than what they charged you... GL.

Tell the dealer you hit 158mph on the track which according to GM we are covered for even if you blow the engine.

That code seems to be a problem with the 17's. I had that issue before tuning mine. I never had it with my 15 or heard anyone that has had that code on a 15 or 16.

As far as the dealership, they owe you your money back. It's under warranty and a known issue.

Ah, the joys of dealing with yokel GM service departments. I drive 40 miles past several Chevrolet service departments to one that actually knows what they are doing - unfortunately the norm.

OP. Is there anything aftermarket on your car? I wouldn't give two sh*** abiut the 130 bucks. I'd be more concerned that they may have or will put a warranty block on your car if they saw something modified, or caught a tune in the ecm etc. Stay on TOP of that. Cause that would really suck.
