Default I have an offer to buy my 2016 Z06. Thinking about a new ZL1 Camaro until the C7 ZR1

I wish I knew when the C7 ZR1 was going to come out. I have been thinking about it though and I probably wouldn't buy the first year C7 ZR1 anyways because the dealers are going to be getting top dollar for it. I think the offer I got on my car is fair for what I have had done to it. Don't get me wrong I love my Corvette and all but I'm ready for something different and it looks like the ZR1 isn't coming out any time soon. If it does by some crazy chance I won't buy the first year anyways. I have been watching the new ZL1 Camaro and I'm really starting to like it. I figure get one and drive a year or so and trade for C7 ZR1. Of course I would have to build the Camaro up so I can run with my buddies Corvettes and Lambo... What's everyones thoughts on all of this??

It certainly would be a fun car and slightly different than the Z06.

i think even with GMS pricing you'll get crushed..

But, you only live once so do what you will and enjoy it.

PS. i could never do it... a ZL1 vert? different story but could never go backwards unless finances dictated it.. and it would have to really be bad for me not even go stingray base vs a ZL1..

I just can't get passed the cluster (too boring and same as a Denali) and the rear is just pathetic. same exact as all other camaros starting at 26k and it looks it..

My issue with the Camaro is.. They are every 5th car you pass on the road and then there is a mustang right behind it. Now more than half the people can't tell the difference between a base C7 and a Z06, which is fine but they all know it's a bad *** car.

The Camaro is the same. 6cyl or ZL1 most people can't tell, but they all think they are a dime a dozen car.

Not a financial thing at all.. I do agree with you about the cluster.. If I do this it would be a ZL1 1LE. I just want to build another bad *** car and from I have been reading this is the car to do it to..

Is it a daily driver? If so, think this through.

I had a 6th gen camaro for a rent a car and it was awesome the first day. Well not even. The first hour because it was a '16. After daily driving it a couple of days, i wanted to drive the car off a cliff.

Everything is adequate except the visibility which is HORRIBLE. I don't care what anyone says oh you'll get used to it. It's not soo much you'll get used to it, but you're FORCED to live with it because there's no other way around it.

So basically if you get the ZL1, you pretty much still have your C7Z except it'll look worse cosmetically and you have no visibility.

Either way, have fun with your ZL1!

Test drive the ZL1 you might like it...I do. I've owned the gen 5 ZL1 and regret selling it. I buy cars based on research and the test drive. I don't really care who has what on the street...if I like it I buy it.

i agree with the above. that's why i said a ZL1 vert just to give the car some advantage above a Z06 coupe.. otherwise you're trapped inside the thing.. not cool and down low like the vette.. up higher well not really high... but you get the point.

A 1LE, for the track? OK.. but it's no vette. if that's a good thing for you then

I made the ZL1 Mistake don't do it!! I sold my white 2016 3LZ ZO6 and bought the very first ZL1 in Florida fully loaded all the options it was going to be great. Long story short 2 weeks ago I bought my 2017 3LZ ZO6 lost about $7,800 on the Camaro ZL1 that I hated from about the second day I owned it. Car feels really cheap interior is not at all good car handles nothing like even a base Stingray and will not even Handel anywhere close to the Corvetts feels like a base Camaro with a bigger motor!! I am a Chevrolet diehard but that was a waste of my time & money!! Just my opinion..

But a ZL1 vert looks ugly compared to the coupe lol

So it's a no win either way. Technically he already won because he has a C7Z. I know people get bored and wanna be in different cars but at least find a buddy with a 6th gen and see if you like the car for everyday. The power you know you'll like because you have the power in your Z now.

It's all up to if you can live with the car itself.

The GIGANTIC a-pillars create insane blinds spots. High hood, small windshield. Small side windows. B-pillars = blind spots. Rear windshield = useless. If you're taller than 6 foot, your backseat is pretty much for show. And you can only fit one person back there, beside the passenger, if your passenger is a child and they can move the passenger seat all the way foward.

Taking all this into consideration, it's pretty much backwards if someone decides to go from a C7Z into a ZL1.

^^^^^^ called taking something granted. Every once i a while I think may be I'll get something different. Then I look at a couple pics of the Z06 and man i don't know what I was thinking. Inside and out.

Zl1 cluster..

sierra cluster. ^^^..

Special? Or rental?

that's an SS and a 6 or 4cyl. I mean they did nothing to the back and it looks so bland.

compare that to this

Sorry bro. Can't sign off on it lol.

Went through the same thing 2 months ago. In the end I sold my 2015 and bought a 2017 Z06.

don't get me wrong, they're very nice clusters.. just not unique or special.. typical GM share the parts bin with whatever.. the vette used to be treated that way until the C7.. we all remember it lol

PS. they couldn't give the ZL1 clear taillights even??

Keep the Z06 and buy the ZL1.
I am biased towards the Gen 5 ZL1 though.
They each have their own personality.
